Debugger problems

Hello, I am having trouble with the debugger using Visual
Studio.NET Professional Edition, 2002.

This is my situation:
Installed VS.NET on a Windows XP Professional laptop.
I noticed that windows applications will not always run
when I click the run button. It compiles, then stops.
When I click build and then run, then usually the program
usually runs.

After a month, I installed a trial version of VS.NET
Enterprise Architect Edition, 2003, which has recently
expired.

Now, when I try to debug an application with Web Services,
it crashes. I can "step" through Windows client code and
forms, but when I try to step into a Web Service, it
simply hangs. However, sometimes the program will step
into the web method! I want to be able to
view line by line what is happening to the application,
but I always get a time out error.

When I can step into a web method, the error is usually
some sort of state error.

On the event log, I notice that the error refers to
..NET Framework 1.1, not .NET Framework 1.0, which could be
the problem, I do not know. Anyone have trouble debugging?

Use the MS Script Editor included free with MS Office 2002 and above, for debugging Internet Explorer (IE). This subject is of great interest to many JS developers, as there is no obvious, low cost way to do sophisticated debugging in IE6 other than to use the debugger described below, which is horribly documented otherwise. I feel debugging is an important aspect of projecting the useability of the language and needs to be made more...

We are a software firm developing in C++ and we recently made the step from Microsoft Visual Studio 6 to Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003. We are really excited about the quality of the compiler; however there seem to be some issues with the debugger or the combination of our code with the debugger that makes debugging very slow and inconvenient. Since our efficiency in software development seriously decreased, we are looking for possible...

Help, I have vb.net std 2002, have a windows forms app and am debugging code behind it. I think I am viewing the source, I set the project to debug (as opposed to release), I start the debugger, it stops at a breakpoint. But as I step through, it stops on what appear to be comment lines. It seems I am not looking at the code line for line as it is being executed (I expect comments

Hi, I'm making some minor changes to a VB 6 app that I converted to VB .NET a couple of years ago and I'm running into an issue with a function that is seemingly returning a different result in the debugger than when I run the exe. The code in question is this; iniFileName = Replace(System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly.Location, ".exe", "") & ".ini"

Okay, a bit of an exaggeration. Recently, I've been using Python more seriously, and in using the debugger I think one of the first things I noticed was that there is no "restart" ("R" in perldb) or "run" (gdb) command. I was pleasantly pleased discover how easy though it was patch pdb.py and pdb.doc; my patch for this is here: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1393667&group_id=5470&atid=305470

I'm having problems w/ the VS2005 debugger with C#. It blows past any breakpoints in even the simplest "Hello World" console application. I can't do any step-by-step debugging. I've provided the code and debugging output later in this post. I've seen a number of threads with similar problems that I'll address below. The one that's the largest concern is this one, which talks about the same problem trying to use the debugger with SQL...

I have created an C++ application with Windows Forms, ADO and SQL server 2005. Now I need to change something and started debugging the code. Then suddenly I receive an error. "An unhandled exception of type 'System.AccessViolationException' occurred in mscorlib.dll Additional information: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt." The progran ends on a windows form designer...

Hi NG, It looks like I have a problem with the debugger. Running the current project every thing "looks" fine, but if I set a breakpoint at a certain position in my code it takes the debugger very long to stop there. Then, if I try to step forward in my code I get the following error message (translated from German): "There are no symbols for the call list frame. The source code can not be displayed"

Hi, Ive got a difference in results depending on wether I run my app in the debugger, or run it seperatly (or with <ctrl-f5>) the results in the debugger seem to be more correct, although the app isnt finished and theres still a lot of things it gets wrong. the processing is so complex its hard to determine where the difference can be occuring, its a visual display of 3d models, and theres a couple of surfaces

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
