Hi All,
I'm pretty new to .Net, not to mention XML, so I truly appreciate any advice!
I have user data that I want to selectively insert into a MS Word document
in XML. Given the various content, I want to create a new instance of an XML
document and write the data to the XML doc using the Word ML schema. The key
item is that I want to be able to add content line-by-line or
section-by-section, to the word document using the XML schema. The reason
behind this is that the content will change dramatically.
The question comes down to this -- are there already-defined components that
allow me to write data in Word ML format to an XML file, or do I need to hand
code it to write specific tags (e.g. <w:pPr ..., <w:rFonts ....)?
Additionally, can I write this new XML file directly to a SQL 2005 database
with a "XML" data type field?
Everything I've found is focused on taking a doc binary file and converting
to XML, but I want to take data and insert it, section by section, into an
XML document that MS Word will open and apply the word schema. Essentially
this comes down to "building a word document, server-side, based on user
input in a web form, as an XML file". I need this to be XML because the data
will eventually
be used by other applications.
Recommendations on books, articles, etc. are also greatly appreciated! 0 1444 This thread has been closed and replies have been disabled. Please start a new discussion. Similar topics |

Hi,
I want to do a dinamicly generation of a word doc in my ASP page.
I do it with the next code:
<% Response.ContentType = "application/msword"
Response.AddHeader "content-disposition", "inline; filename=OrderFax.doc" %>
But i have a problem with the margins of the word doc, by default the
margins are:
left:3.17 cm, right: 3.17cm.

An article at http://news.com.com/2100-1012-991694.html?tag=fd_top states:
"XML would allow easier interchange of data generated in
Office documents with back-end systems or existing Web services."
As part of an Access 2000 application, I have to continually parse Word
documents and store the parsings in Access tables using Automation to
control Word and parse the document. Is there a way that XML would help with
that?
Thanks.

Hi,
Being fairly new to .NET I am looking for a way to call MS
Word from an event on a webform, and after the user is
finished save that created document to an SQL Server
database. Has anyone done this? Does it seem possible? I
followed the instructions from a sample on the Microsoft
knowledge base but it only seems to work when creating a
VB.NET Windows .EXE, not an VB.NET ASP app.

I am updating a VB4.0 quote generation program to VB.net. The old
program takes user inputs, performs calculations, saves the data to
Access databases and uses Crystal Reports 5.0 to generate a quote. A
while back users obviously wanted to be able to edit/e-mail the quote
(these ancient Cyrstal 5.0 reports don't allow PDF creation) so I
modified the old VB4.0 code to allow users to save the Crystal Report
as Word document which they can...

I've know that Microsoft don't currently recommend this process, what
I'm trying to find out is why?
This is a feature that I've used (with Classic ASP) in the past with a
great deal of success.

I looked to find a canned solution to create a Word document in my application and just couldn't find anything that just gets to the point. I would think, and I may be making too strong of an assumption here, that anyone looking for this kind of solution would just want a simple example that they can work from and expand upon.
In my case, I just want to output a new Word document. I found that creating a simple wrapper class would make this...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
