Passing data to a web page

I am new to .NET and I'm trying to move data from a local database to a
remote database. The only way to access the remote database is through a
web server. What I want to do is pull the records I need from my local
database and pass them to a web page which will loop through the records and
call a stored procedure on the remote database to insert them into a table .
I am using VB 2005 and SQL Server 2000. I have worked out the first part
where I pull the records I need from the local database in the code below.

Dim testConn As SqlConnection = New SqlConnection(" Data
Source=DBLocalT est;integrated security=sspi;i nitial Catalog=pubs;")

Dim testCMD As SqlCommand = New SqlCommand("SPT est", testConn)

testCMD.Command Type = CommandType.Sto redProcedure

Dim adapter As New SqlDataAdapter( testCMD)

Dim newDataset As New DataSet()

adapter.Fill(ne wDataset)

testConn.Close( )

Dim xmldocument2 As New XmlDataDocument (newDataset)

I have the records in an XLMDataDocument now and what I want to do is pass
them over the web to a web page. This is where I'm stuck. How would I go
about passing the XLMDataDocument to a web page? Is putting the data in a
XLMDataDocument the right way to ready it for trasport to the web page?
Would this web page be considered a Web Service?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi rocky20,

you do not have to convert the Dataset to XMLDocument. Just serialize the
Dataset to XML and pass it as a string. On the other side you can
deserialize the string to Dataset object backforwards.

Hi, In my application I get lots of different sorts of information from databases. As such, a lot of information is stored in DataSets and DataTable objects. Up until now, I have been passing around chunks of data in DataTables/DataSets, simply because that was the format that they were in when the data was taken from the database. Now, I know this maybe a pretty silly question with a standard "it depends" answer, but I'm going to...

I've written 2 ASP.NET applications (I've worked on one with a team and another by myself). In my ASP.NET pages, when saving data to a backend database I've done it by using the click event of a button and just using the data during postback. Now, however, I've got a WebForm that I'll be working on, and it is going to collect more data than I have collected from the user in the past. I want to be able to attempt to save each part and if...

I have a htm page where I need to pass some data to an aspx page as a means of sending data to the database. I don't need to see the aspx page so I was going to put it in a hidden iframe. This works real good. Since I don't need the aspx page to do any postback, is there a way to pass a parameter to it with out it finishing the round trip back to the htm page? Thanks. -- moondaddy@newsgroup.nospam

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
