Passing XML Document to WebService?

How can you pass an entire XML Document to a webservice (do you do this with
a SOAP envelope body?). Say a supplier sends or posts the entire updated
product & price list to your webservice.

Also, how to access or "grab" the Document within the webmethod? Is it just
a parameter?

I'm also concerned with the size limitations for the XML being passed

Any documentation on this that would be great.

Thanks.

I believe you can do this by simple using the XmlNode type as a parameter
(or return value).

Thanks, but I guess I'm also interested in seeing some code calling this
method from the client side (both .NET and non-.NET clients).

I have code to develop result page links (like a search engine) for some results being passed from a database where I've no server-sdide acces - thus JS. The code is below and works fine except the function in the onClick event of the link being written on screen fails indicating 'theForm' as being passed through is 'not defined'. The form is being passed as "document.resultAdd" and can be checked as arriving in my function. So what...

If the dataset has rows then I need to return those rows to the consumer. I can't tell if the consumer of the web service will use .Net or maybe java. 1) If the web service method returns a Dataset then the consumer will get information on the Dataset. What if the...

Hi! I'm trying to call a Java WebService out of a .net Client. There are two Methods, one Method requires one Parameter of type Parameter, the other Method requires one Parameter of type Parameter. I can call the first Method without Problems, the Parameter can be deserialized by the WebService. But if I want to call the second Method and give it an Array of Parameters, then the following exception is thrown by the WebService:...

Hello I am new to vb.net webservice. My requirement is to design a VB.net web service which will send and receive xml documents. The xml document send and received would be a very complex .xsd file which contains multiple formats of send and receive mesages. On reading books on webservice it was says to design an interface (ie design the xsd , wsdl, then run wsdl.exe to generate interface.vb class) Since my xsd is very complex if I have...

Hi all. I would like to create two web services: - The first one - ImportData - should take as an input parameter a XML document and return an integer saying if passed XML document was valid and was succesfully processed. - The second one - ExportData - should take as an input parameter an integer an return a XML document. I would like to know if it is possible to do something like that. Do I

Is it me, or is document.write just about the most abused js function? Maybe, like goto, js would be better without it? Is there any good reason to use it? Because I'm having a hard time seeing any... Maybe my imagination just isn't good enough :)

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
