Hello all,
I have recently been porting code from Linux to cygwin and came across
a problem with static const class members (discussed below). I am
seeking to determine whether I am programming non-standard C++ or if the
problem lies elsewhere.
To summarize static const class members are not being accessed properly
when accessed from a DLL by another external object file (not within the
DLL). It only occurs when the static const...

Sorry about the big code dump. I tried to get it down to the minimum
required to demonstrate the problem. Although this is all done with GNU, I
believe the problem I'm having may be more general. Someone on the SuSE
programming mailing list suggested my problem is that I'm trying to execute
a function (I assume he meant the constructor) at compile time. The same
source code compile if I don't try to split it up into separate libraries.

Since this topic has come up several times in other threads, I thought I'd
make a separate thread and gather opinions from (hopefully) a more varied
range of newsgroup participants.
What are your thoughts on the development and use of generalized, reusable
javascript libraries?
Discussion points:
1) Is the overhead of a 25k (for example) .js file too much for a typical

Hello Everybody,
I'm using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 (with Vc7 compiler)
I have some 15 projects each of which generate a static library when i
build the solution in release mode.
The solution also contains a project which includes all the above
generated static libraries.I have set all the above projects as
dependent projects in the 'Project Dependencies' option.

Hi all,
I've recently been following the object-oriented techiques discussed
here and have been testing them for use in a web application. There is
problem that I'd like to discuss with you experts.
I would like to produce Javascript classes that can be "subclassed"
with certain behaviors defined at subclass time. There are plenty of
ways to do this through prototyping and other techniques, but these
behaviors need to be static and...

Hello everyone,
I've been trying for some time now to move to C++/CLI, but I have several
large legacy C++ static libraries I need to use. When I set up a simple
solution with a C++/CLI Winforms app and a C++ native static library, they
work well together _unless_ I have, it seems, any static variables defined in
any function in the native library.
The libraries I'm trying to use all have Meyers Singletons in them, so they
need to have...

Hi all,
As far as I know, relative address will be assigned by program at link
time.Right? Ok, here we go.
So if we use a static library, it will give the program an relative
address(i mean the function address) at link time.
Also the code of the library will load into the program. Go on.
Now if we use a dynamic library, what it will give the program?

HI
I am new to SWIG & Python and right now i am in the process of
wrapping some "C" functionalities present in a static library for
python. I do have my C file "name.c" which just contains some helper
functions.
I tried to link my object files (e.g name.o & name_wrap.o) with the
static libraries (whose functionalities need to be wrapped) to form a
shared library that can be imported from Python. While doing so i
cannot be able to access...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
