Upgrade from Express to Visual Studio 2005

Hi all,

Are there any issues when upgrading the express editions (web developer, c#,
sql 2005) to VS 2005 Professional. Also I have a project I started in
Web-Express edition, when I install VS 2005 I need to migrate it over, again
any issues?

Thanks,
Joe

No migration needed. The Web Developer module within VS 2005 is in essence
the VWD Express. Just open your website and program away....

I'm currently using VB 6 for windows based apps. Should I make the jump to VS.2003 now, or should I wait till (the final) VS.2005 release comes out later this year. If I have not started converting any of our code yet, is it worth while to wait for the 2005 final release to come out. I am not interested in converting our VB6 apps to VS.2005 beta2 as there will be some changes between beta2 and the final release that will probably cause...

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnsse/html/sseoverview.asp SQL Server Express was developed with two distinct uses in mind. The first is as a server product, especially as a Web server or a database server. The second is as a local client data store where the application data access does not depend on the network. Ease of use and simplicity are key design goals.

Anyone know of a list of features lacking in Web Developer 2005 Express that are already in VS.NET 2003? I realize they take a slightly different approach due to the new ASP.NET 2.0, but I'm trying to envision the compelling reasons why people will want to buy VS.NET 2005 with the availability of Web Developer 2005 Express. I tend to avoid any and all wizards, so I was just happy to see that Intellisense was included. Thanks in...

My main dev machine has WinXp and VS2005 (pro). 1. I need to install VWD Express Edition so that I can do some instruction on this. Any issues with both on the same machine. Installation order? 2. Does VWD Express Edition support the idea of Solutions? I coun't figure out how to create a blank solution which I usually do with VS2005 (and then add my web site to the solution.)

Now that Visual Studio 2005 has been out a while I'm hoping that someone can give me some insight on what version to upgrade to (standard or professional). I went out on Microsoft's site and looked at the comparison chart and didn't find anything really significant between the two versions from my perspective. I have Visual Basic Professional 6.0 and have written a few standalone programs. No network, no databases just a few simple...

I recently purchased a good MS book ("Build a Web Site Now") by Jim Buyens. It has the Express Edition of MS-Visual Web Developer 2005 on CD and also MS SQL Server 2005 Express Edition on the CD. A couple of questions for this newbie: Can MS SQL Server 2005 Express Edition be used in place of the older MSDE product for backend database work? I also have Visual Studio .NET (VB) 2003 (Standard Edition). How compatible are all these products...

I am using Visual Studio 2003 Enterprise Edition. Now that VS 2008 is out in beta, I figure 2005 is stable enough for us. :-) Which version of Visual Studio 2005 is the logical upgrade path for us? Thanx, -- Anil Gupte www.keeninc.net www.icinema.com

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
