What happened to Lippman's C++/CLI book?

_DS
After waiting for Stan Lippman's book on C++/CLI forever,
(http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/032...qid=1137406793)
it seems to have dropped off the planet. Was publication canceled?

I know Stephen Fraser's book just came out. Any others?

I don't know anyone, including me, who has gotten Stan's book yet so I'm
guessing it was just delayed. I haven't heard anything about it being
canceled. I read his blog on occasion and I haven't heard mention of him
"not" doing it.

Hello, I downloaded and registered VWD Express from the MS site, and this gave me a free download of a book called "Build A Web Site Now!", which is a (very light) introduction to VWD. In the chapter on master pages, it says that adding meta data to a page is done by... Master.Page.Header.MetaData.Add("keywords", "ferrets, gibbons");

I found the example code below, listed in the book described here: http://cartan.cas.suffolk.edu/moin/OopDocbookWiki The result was a bit surprising. I guess it falls into the category of "that's what you get for lying". Can the behavior demonstrated be explained in standardese? Yes, I know the exact result is "undefined behavior". I can see what happened. But what was the actual violation? // Miles are converted to kilometers....

Lippman's C++ Primer, 4th ed., p562, dicussion of protected members seems to be wrong, unless I am misinterpreting things. He says: "A derived class object may access the protected members of its base class only through a derived object. The derived class has no special access to the protected members of base type objects." He gives the following example: =========================================================

Hi, I am learning C++ with C++ primer written by Lippman. The first output line: cout << s1 << endl; works right. The second is wrong. I find the problem is that s1 is destroyed in the call from "result += s;". And even though the "result" is correct in the routine: String String::operator+( const String &s ) const { String result = *this;

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
