The tools that I mentioned in my reply (Xalan, Fop) are free or at least
have free versions (Saxon).

I have a client that wants to send HTML based email. Building and sending isn't a problem, but he wants to include a plain text link at the top of the email that will display if the user doesn't not accept HTML email. Maybe it is the product we are using to send the email, but there is no way to include non-HTML formatted text in the email. Is there a way to send non-HTML and HTML in a single email? Thanks.

I'm looking for a good (non-wysiwyg) editor for HTML and CSS. I want something that will help me produce non-dynamic pages with a minimum of excrescences (no, javascript, flash, etc.) in supportable style. I am using CSS as much as possible to organize these pages, but since I'm still fairly new at CSS I'd like a good set of help features as well. Freeware would be nice, but functionality is more important.

at work we switched to UTF-16 encoding and now when I open html files in HomeSite the code is all messed up, and if I turn on "enable non-ANSI file encoding" code looks fine when I open files but I get this error when I try to save them.. "The character set defined in your document does not match the encoding format you selected in the Save As Dialog" (even though I don't do Save As, just save..) and sometimes doesn't let me save them...

Does anyone know of any good freeware html text editors that can used easily from within an asp.net application. I want to give the user the ability to write their text, add a few bold tags, italic tags, and line breaks. Then i want to be able to extract what they added and use it in my code. many thanks, CR

Hello, and happy holidays! My company has bundled up a bunch of our own controls and components as freeware developer downloads. They've been hot downloads for the last few months mainly through blog reviews and word-of-mouth, but I just realized we hadn't yet posted on any of the developer forums about them! The ASP.NET controls and components include: 1) enhanced Calendar, DatePicker, ComboBox, ListBox and DropDown ASP.NET controls,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
