As well known I could specify the text color in the body tag like:
<BODY TEXT=WHITE LINK=WHITE VLINK=RED ALINK=WHITE>
What I want to achieve now is that always (!) the text of the last visited link and
the text of the link under the cursor are red. All other links should be white.
The problem with the construction above is that a visited link remains for the rest of
the session red regardless wether it was visited 17 clicks back in...

As you might have noticed I'm trying to clean up my web site's
HTML code. The way I do it is simply more or less redoing to
complete site, testing it on a web server I have set up on my
local network.
I have downloaded, and installed CSE HTML Validator Pro,
but I don't get the same results with that as I do with the online
validator on W3.org. And I can't upload files to W3.org either,
due to all the ASP code I use.

What's Nielsen talking about in
http://www.useit.com/alertbox/20040503.html
http://www.useit.com/alertbox/20040510.html
Can't a good browser keep track of visited vs. unvisited link colors?
Is my site deficient as I have not messed with link colors?
Does Nielsen address why all this can't be left up to the browser?
Are link colors supposed to be special, like background images, to make
a big impression?

Hi,
After the response on my request from W3C I'm still unclear about Tidy
vs. Validator discrepansies. That started with <IFRAME> issue, but
there is more as I know. Anyway, this very basic HTML page:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Strict//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/strict.dtd">

It's been years since putting together a page. This line in my HTML:
<link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="net4801style.css">
gives this problem (via weblint HTML checker):
attribute 'TYPE' for <link> is extended markup (use -x <extension> to do
this).
Where might be found a resource, for simple folk, explaining how to best
correct this?

However, the validator has so many complaints, and being so
incompetent, i have no clue as to how to fix it all.
Would the use of Dreamweaver be of great help?

Hi;
I had a big link checking job to do and it has been years since I have
done anything like that so I found a test page to use that I knew had
bad links on it( a friends site ) and I decided to test the various
free services out.
I tried about 5 different link checkers on the test page I had ,
including Xenu and NetMechanic. I got 5 sets of identical results.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
