#develop: The Open Source Development Environment for .NET

I've been following these guys for a while and use their GPL'd
ICSharpZip library quite a bit.

The #develop seems to be getting better and better.

#develop (short for SharpDevelop) is a free IDE for C# and VB.NET
projects on Microsoft's .NET platform. It is open-source (GPL), and you
can download both sourcecode and executables from this site. In
addition, you can find the latest information and changes on #develop,
as well as get in touch with the team in the forum.

Just wondering.... does their license force you make anything you create
into 'Open Source'?

We currently develop ASP.NET 1.1 applications on Windows 2000 Workstation (using the workstation version of IIS5) and run them on W2K Servers, so everything is IIS5. We want to upgrade the servers to II6, but we think the development environment should match the server. Should we upgrade our workstations to Windows 2003? There's no...

Hello, I just read this mail by Brett Cannon: http://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-dev/2006-October/069139.html where the "PSF infrastracture committee", after weeks of evaluation, recommends using a non open source tracker (called JIRA - never heard before of course) for Python itself. Does this smell "Bitkeeper fiasco" to anyone...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not.
