Hello, Group,
I hope it's OK for me to ask this question here, since I'm a "dabbler", not
a "programmer".
What I'd like to do, if it's possible, is find a reference or
example/template that will show me how to create a "quote gallery" that
uses a mouseover/mouseout to show/hide text in a layer - the idea is that,
when the visitor mouses over a quote title, the appropriate text is called
from a separate file and shows in a reserved and...

Hello all,
Hope this is the correct group for this question.
I couldn't find a vb beginners group.
I am getting overwhelmed and need some help.
I did this very easily in a batch file (only three lines), but DOS is too
limited and the use of the batch is presenting other problems (file is
compressed so I get garbage characters in the output file which I can't
edit).
I also wanted some other functionality added and decided to try VB6.

Hi guys, am learning c as a beginner language and am finding it rough
especially with pointers and data files. What do you think, am i being
too pessimistic or thats how it happens for a beginner? Are there
better languages than c for a beginner? For instance visual basic or i
should just keep the confidence of improving?

Hi,
I am trying to figure out how to get started with PHP/MySQL.
Everything I've read so far says to start with PHP first. I was
expecting something like Visual Basic Express or some other type of
free IDE. So I discovered that I needed to download a virtual server,
so I downloaded OmniSecure and followed the set up instructions as far
as I could figure them out.
So here is where I'm stuck.
1) While trying to set up and configure...

I have a very beginner and fundamental question regarding porting and
running C# programs in Linux. As a background I am a total idiot when
it comes to Linux but somehow managed to install Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty
Fawn and Monodevelop 0.12 on a machine. So far so good, however I
cannot compile and run a simplest winform application. Basically,
"System.Windows.Forms" is not recognized and cannot even do a
MessageBox.Show.
So, my basic...

If the file you're reading is not too big, you can use file.readlines() which
read all the files and returns its content as a list of lines.
text.find('@') will return the position of the first occurence of '@', or a
negative value if not found.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
