Please excuse the cross-post - I'm pretty sure I've had interest in the
article on all the groups this is posted to.
I've finally managed to finish my article on multi-threading - at least
for the moment. I'd be *very* grateful if people with any interest in
multi-threading would read it (even just bits of it - it's somewhat

I have the following code in a windows service, when I start the windows
service process1 and process2 work fine , but final process (3) doesnt get
called. i stop and restart the windows service and the final process(3) gets
called. what am I doing wrong with the threading? by the way
Directory.GetFiles(IncomingXMLPath1).Length is some global outcome from
process 1.

I wanted to use a new Thread to open Excel.Application in my web project and
it gave access denied. If I do not use a new thread, i.e NO thread.start(),
then this Excel.Application instantiation is fine.

I am trying to write my first program using threading..basically I am
moving messages from an Outlook inbox and want to show the user where
the process is up to without having to wait until it has finished. I am
trying to follow this example :

But although the messages still get moved, the progress window never

This is a long-overdue item on my punch list that I haven't had much time to
address in the past. I'm trying to get it off my plate this week. ;o)
We have a home-grown CMS that works pretty well. One issue we have is that
whenever a page is saved in the CMS, we grab the info about the user that is
saving the page and save it along with the page (so we can track who has
changed what).
This works most of the time.

I have an excel file in a specific location. I want to process the
file and display data in an html page. But there are many users. I
know how to call the excel object in the script and stuff... Won't
there be a problem if two or more people try to access the same file.
To handle this I suppose some elementary threading should do. But I am
