"Registrati on Key" for client application

Could someone provide some help or tips on creating “Registration Key” for client application?

I am designing an application in VB.Net which will be distributed to our clients. I want my clients to provide “Registration Key” when they first install the application. Further, I want this “Registration Key” to be unique for each installation, which means clients have to call us for the “Registration Key”.

I want to implement this scenario in order to prevent clients from distributing the applications to their friends, relative etc.

Thanx

Job,

Although this is as well a good newsgroup for your questions, are there in
my opinion better newsgroups for your question

microsoft.publi c.dotnet.langua ges.vb
and the otherone I answered as well in
microsoft.publi c.dotnet.framew ork.adonet.

You can send as well one message to more dotnet Newgroups that is no
problem(crospos t), however most do not like more messages (multipost) to
those newsgroups.

This was written about this question of you in the first one.

I hope this helps?

Hi, I’m looking for a Registration / Join In script in either asp.net or asp. User will fill the form (First Name, Last Name, Email, Company, Phone, etc) and after submitting the form, an email will be sent to administrators who will decide whether to grant /deny request for access. Upon denying or granting, email will be sent back to user informing him/her that he or she has been denied or granted the access. Because of the time...

Hi There! I'm using VB.NET to create a TreeView application and unfortunately I could not find "Key" property in Node items of the TreeView. We used to have "Key" property in TreeView node object in VB6. What is the equivalent of "Key" property of TreeView node in VB.NET? Has the property name "Key" has been changed to something else? Or VB.NET does not support the "Key" property anymore? If so what are the alternatives?

I have a table with columns (product_id,related_product_id,related_counter) If product A is related to product B then a record should be created, if the record already exists then the related_counter should be incremented. This is very easy to do with MySQL using INSERT... ON DUPLICATE KEY. Standard or not, it is very usefull.

Hi. Two questions about "RegisterClientScriptBlock": 1. I want to be able to insert a script block without having to worry about whether the "key" is unique. As it turns out, if a script block with that key has already been registered, I can't register another block with the same key. So the problem is, if I have functions that just register script blocks, am I going to have to dynamically generate keys for each one with some kind of...

Hi: I have a search form in my application which has 4 dropdown list controls, one text box, one "GO" button, one "reset" button. When the "GO" button is clicked the form gets submitted and the results page is displayed. When I press the "enter" key nothing happens. I want to submit the form by pressing the "enter" key also. I have placed <input type="text" style="display:none"> after the <form> tag in the HTML section. Now if my cursor...

A friend of mine is making simple web pages for clients only interested in the basic web presence. She has bumped into a couple clients however that would like to branch into online purchasing, credit card transactions, and possible registration for automatic frequent buyer tabulation. Is there a simplistic (hopefully freeware) product out there to manage most of that that she could "plug into" her existing pages with only a minimum of...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
