JavaScript source file becomes read-only during debugging?!

Hello happy chappies,

I have a C++ project in VS .NET that makes use of some HTML and Javascript.
These are stored as HTML resources in the application, so they can be
accessed at runtime using a URL like:

res://my_app.exe/my_script.js

Say I have the source file "my_script. js" open, and run the application in
the debugger, "[Read Only]" appears in the file's title bar, and needless
to say I can't edit it. When I stop the debugger, I'm allowed to edit it
again. This doesn't seem to happen with any type of source file other than
JavaScript. Its driving me mad, because I need to edit the file to correct
errors that appear during runtime.

Why is VS .NET doing this, and how can I make it stop? Many thanks in
advance!

This may be the wrong group but I didn't see anything for VC++ so I'm trying here. I have a C++ book by Deitel and Deitel that says I can use fstream File("data.dat", ios::in | ios::out | ios::binary) to declare a file object with read/write modes turned on for working with binary data. I've tried this and my file is not created. The only time it is created is when I specify ifstream or ofstream but not fstream. I've tried removing the...

I have a three tier nested array, used to define a map for a javascript game, and can be edited within the web page. Is there a way I can generate a visible copy of this array that I can then c&p into a file? I think the best solution would be to write into a popup window (this popup would be purely for map development use, so I don't feel worried by popup blockers, as only myself would be seeing the popup). However, I have no idea how to:...

Let's say I want to filter the contents of a target web page, and present a simpler page on the screen. For example, let's say a target web page is full of links, text, images, forms, etc. and I want to present a simple page containing just the links. The original page is not "mine", that is, I can't just edit it in notepad and stick some javascript in it.

I have a multi-page site that I want to be able to resume at the same page if the user leaves and comes back later (say, days later). I'm thinking that I'll set a cookie as each page is displayed and when the main/first page displays, I'll look for the cookie and open the page it names. If a new version of the site omits a page that used to exist or if the cookie somehow becomes corrupt, I don't want to display an error when I try to...

I am trying to read this XML and save it, but I have problem saving it in the same form as it is in the HTML source. For example, let's say that the XML tag in my HTML source looks like this: <XML id="xmltest"> <TAG1>some text here for example</TAG1>

Hi all, I'm trying to use some javascript code in Internet Explorer 6.0 that's being generated by a Perl file. I have a line in my header that looks something like this: <script src="jscode.pl?parm1=foo&parm2=monkey" type="text/javascript" / Just for the sake of simplicity, here's a very simplified version of the Perl code:

Greetings, I've recently been struggling with the idea of writing an XML document based on user-submitted content using javascript. Using various instances of document.write on a newly opened window I succeeded in the task of outputting a perfectly valid XML document, although I have been experiencing a few problems. If I look at the source code of the new window, what I have is a perfect XML document, such that if I copy the source...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
