Dear all,
I have a problem in using inherited form. There are
some simple logic I want to share between all the window
forms. I simply create a normal window form in an
application "A" then I apply some simple logic such as get
the system date and time and then display them on a text
label. Then I have defined some standard procedure (Sub)
in the form.

Hi,
I have a base form (FormBase), which defines things like the value of the
WindowState. Other forms inherit from this base form to reflect the layout
given in the base form.
Is there a way to prohibit the inheriting form to change the value of the
WindowState property?
Appreciate any input/approach.

Hi,
Just to get started....
I've created a very simple web form, "Simple", using VS and I dropped a
HTML img control on the design view. I referenced a picture and it is
displayed in browser view. Very simple.
I have created a second form and in the code-behind page I have altered the
class definition to inherit from, "Simple".

I'm new to VB.net, but not new to OO in general, and I'm very strong in VB6.
However, I don't know what I did in VB.net to cause this to happen.
I've got 2 projects open at the same time, in the same solution. One is a Class
Library project that contains 1 form and 1 class. The other project is a normal
Windows app, and contains 2 forms, both inherited from the form in the class
library, by adding the line "Inherits...

I've got a form in a class library, form named frmPCGGen. I'm inheriting from
this form (for some base functionality) in a different project. When I inherit
from the form, I obviously give it a different name, frmTest for example.
In the code frmPCGGen, is it possible to know the name of the derived form, ie,
frmTest?

I would like to do the following:
Create a class that inherits from a usercontrol. Then add a control to the
designer Call this new class ClassA.
Many controls I need will start off like this so I'd like to create all
controls form now on from this base control.
So, for example, I inherit from this base control and add the further
controls required to form this part of my UI. Call this ClassB

Two books, "Mastering Visual Basic.Net" and "Visual Basic.Net Developer's
Handbook" describe inheriting from System.EventArgs using a class similar
to:
Public Class MyEventArgs
Inherits System.EventArgs
Public Shared MyField As String
Public Sub New(Text As String)
Me.MyField = Text
End Sub

Hi,
I have a base form from which i want all of my forms to inherit from. The
base form has three buttons anchored to the bottom right of the base form.
When i first inherit a new form from the base form everything seems to be
fine. The 3 buttons from the base form show up on the bottom right of the
inherited form. But as i started adding new controls and building it i found
that the 3 buttons from the base form disappeared. When i...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
