Hello,
I am having a really annoying problem. I have a base form, say FormA,
and this form has some buttons on it with images (which are stored in
the resx file). I then have FormB, which inherits from FormA. FormB
for some odd <and stupid> reason, FormB desides to rewrite all the
designer generated code for the inherited controls. It also puts the
images that FormA has in it's resx into it's own resx <very annoying>.
I have MANY forms...

I'm using inheritance more than I used to, and I find myself calling a lot
of base class methods. I generally call a base method from a dreived class
like this:
this.MyMethod();
I'm finding it somewhat confusing when I look at the code later, because I
expect to find a method called MyMethod() in the derived class.
I think C# would let me call a base class method from a derived class like

I am using CodeDOM to generate source files. The classes being generated
have a const string member. This member is referenced in an abstract base
class but declared in the inheriting class. I can't declare the string in
the abstract class because it would require initialization. Is there a way
to require that any class inheriting from the base class contain this string
without a specific declaration in the base class? I tried putting a...

Hi guys/gals,
I'm using VS.net 2003 and having trouble with the following:
I am trying to inherit a base class into a web form, but VS will then not
allow me to add any ASP.NET controls using the designer. The base class does
derive from System.Web.UI.Page.
Here's a code snippet:

We have some base classes library which includes also base web form class.
In every new project we adding one web form class which inherits from our
base class web form.
All other web forms in this application inherits from this Application

Now the problem is when some changes made in base library, any developer
opens any application gets designer error:

I have a base class - ComponentBase - that inherits from UserControl. My
class implements IComponentBase, which defines a minimal set of core
properties and methods. All my other components inherit from ComponentBase.
I have defined IComponentBase in a common assembly so that my other projects
reference this rather than the (large) library that contains the component
implementation.

I am creating a set of base classes and sub classes to use throughout a
program I'm developing. The base class represents a generic "lookup
table" from my database that contains lists of things like
manufacturers, makes, modes, etc. of cars. I have created a generic
"datacollection" class and a generic "dataobject" class to represent the
table and the rows within that table as a collection of objects with
generic properties for...

Hi,
I have a base form (FormBase), which defines things like the value of the
WindowState. Other forms inherit from this base form to reflect the layout
given in the base form.
Is there a way to prohibit the inheriting form to change the value of the
WindowState property?
Appreciate any input/approach.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
