essentially I am trying to do some counts based on some
assumptions in the recordset. So I get the RS back, put
the values into a variable, move to the next record in the
RS and compare what is in the variable to the value in the
next record in the recordset and do a count. Then
overwrite the value in the variables and do the same for
the next record and so.
But this runs extremly slow. 5000 records takes about 10

I am using the MySQL ODBC 3.51 driver to link three relatively small MySQL

I have a bit of vb code that uses Tables.Append to programatically
link tables from Oracle and DB2 datasources. The problem I am having
on some client machines is that the link will take anywhere from 1 to
3 minutes to link the table. When I manually link the tables,through
Access, it takes no time at all. Note that only certain client have

We have an internal network of 3 users.
Myself & one other currently have individual copies of the front-end
MS Access forms and via our individual ODBC links we have used the:
File > Get External Data > Link Tables > select ODBC Databases
facility to link to our back-end MySQL Server. On both our machines
the tables appear in the window very quickly and if we hit 'Select

I'm having trouble with a query that's prohibitively slow. On my free-standing
office computer it's fine (well, 2-4 seconds), but on the client's network, it
takes at least 5 minutes to run. Obviously not workable!
I know where the problem is, I just don't know how to fix it. The query calls
a function, and I assume it gets slow because the function runs on every
record.
So--is there a way to rewrite the function so it's quicker?...

Why is "Visual Studio .net 2003 7.1 c++" so much slower than VS6 at linking?
It looks like "Visual Studio .net 2003 7.1 c++" doesn't even do incremental
linking! I make one very minor change in a .cpp from one of my thirty
projects and the whole thing links! (I turned on verbose linking to verify
this.)
Is there something else I need to do to turn on incremental linking?

My very large native C++ app takes a long time to link (approaching five
minutes).
How can I troubleshoot *why* it takes so long to link? I'd like to look for

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
