I have an MFC application that uses FlashWindowEx to notify the user of an event by minimizing a window on the taskbar and calling FlashWindowEx. This works fine except if you are using the Windows Classic theme on Windows XP. If you switch back to one of the built-in XP themes, it works fine. When using the classic theme, the taskbar button flashes one time, and then appears 'pushed', like it is the active window even though it is not. Also, if you have the taskbar hidden, it does not pop up after calling FlashWindowEx like it does when using the XP theme, Win98 or 2000. 2 3080

The function did not get added to the Win32 API until '98. Do you need to
define in your source or in the IDE
#define WINVER 0x0500
Of course, if you do that it is for you to insure that you don't try to run
your application on '95 or NT v4.

In Windows XP display Properties/Appearance users can chose between:
Windows XP Style or Windows Classic Style.
Is there a way in VBA to determine the user's selection?
The reason:
Toolbars size taller in XP than in Classic so I need to size all those
nifty windows sizing commands depending on the user's preference.

Hi all,
I have an application, designed in Visual Studio 2005, which will run

If I run the application on a Windows XP computer having the Windows XP

But if I run the application on a Windows XP computer having the Windows

The menu drop down icons (only the gray inactive icons) look horrible
in Windows Classic Theme. Once they are active and have color, they
look fine. If we switch to XP theme, they look just fine. Anyone else
run into this problem with python rewriting "shotty" inactive icons in
the Windows Classic Theme?
ANY help appreciated.

Hi All
I am just getting to grips with Access 2007 and one of the quirks I
have found is that when I design using Windows in XP Windows-Classic
colors and set the text boxes on forms' special effect property to
"sunken" They appear as sunken in the correct manner.
However, when I change to the Windows XP color scheme the forms text
boxes appear flat even though the special effect property has not
changed.

I have developed an app on a computer that is set to windows classic as it's theme (XP pro machine). When I publish the app it works fine on machines with the theme set to windows classic, but if they have it set to XP default the login/cancel buttons do not work on the MS created login form. I can fix it by disabeling the "Allow xp themes" checkbox on theproject form. The buttons will show the orange border when the mouse hovers over them,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
