Installing version 6.0

Hi,

I have a development app that needs a registry hook created by installing VC++ 6.0 but I do not have a copy of this version. I have bought VC++ .NET Standard 2003 and this hasn't done the job but was wondering if it is possible to use the license key from the version I own to install version 6.0?

If this is possible, is there anywhere that I could download a copy of version 6.0 under the license for my version? Notably I am also a Technet subscriber and wondered if there was a resolution path to be found using this subscription. I could not find one, so if you can direct me to the right location within Technet, that would be additionally helpful.

Thanks,

Duncan

I have a need to become familiar with SQL Server 2000 for work. Needless to say I am new to SQL Server any version, but not IT in general. My employer has provided me with the SQL Server 2000 Personal disk from the SQL Server 2000 Enterprise kit as this is reported here on the MSDN web site to be the version that is supported on Windows XP. In fact so many of you kind people confess to having succeeded in doing it. I have tried...

I'm trying to install the dotnet framework 1.1 on a Windows 2000 Pro, SP 4 box. I've downloaded dotnetfx.exe and am installing from c:\temp. This is the error message that I get: Error 1606. Could not access network location %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools. The folder exists and I've given full permission to it to everyone, so I don't think this is some kind of security issue. Here's the installation log:

All, I was working at a client's site when I installed Visual Basic 6 on a machine at their request. Existing applications on this machine had specified version 4.0 of the Jet OLEDB provider in a data source string in their config files. After installing VB 6, they stopped working, producing the error "3220: The supplied provider is different from the one already in use. Changing their configuration files to specify version 3.5.1...

I made changes to my VB.NET application so I need to uninstall the existing version of my app and reinstall the new changed version. I rebuilt my solution on my development computer and uninstalled the application on the target pc by going to add/remove programs. This works fine But now when I go to reinstall the new version by double-clicking on setup.exe, my installer catches the launch condition for MDAC version 2.7 or higher. I put...

Hi, i have a setup project, wich is configured so that new versions will automatically uninstall in older version. It all works fine, but the installation fails, if the user selects another application directory than for the existing version. Gives twice a message that a part of a directory is missing. Then everything is rolled back. Maybe the problem is linked with an installer class i use in my project.

I've just started a job which has a massive python2.3.4-centric tools installation and configuration. I know what you're going to say, but I can't upgrade and be the only one with a newer version. There are close to 30 engineers using this same tools configuration, and it has been working fine for a long time. For now, we all have to live with the limitations and or bugs in 2.3.4. I'm running Windows XP, SP2, on a AMD 1.79Ghz MP 2200+.

Hi I have an Outlook add-in solution which includes a setup project. If I install the Outlook add-in by right clicking on the setup project and sleeting Install then the add-in gets installed fine in Outlook. However if I use the setup generated in the setup project Release folder then even though setup runs and finishes, the Outlook Add-in does not appear in Outlook. What is the problem and how can I fix it? Thanks

You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
