Hi,
I have been thinking about how to overload the assign operation '='.
In many cases, I wanted to provide users of my packages a natural
interface to the extended built-in types I created for them, but the
assign operator is always forcing them to "type cast" or coerce the
result when they do a simple assign for the purpose of setting the
value of a variable. Borrowing an example from this newgroup, the
second assignment below ereases...

I'm trying to assign a custom value to a textbox. Here's what I have.
I've created a module and "default value" code for a textbox which
generates a custom auto-number (yyyy-0000) when a New Record button is
clicked. The code checks the table for the highest value and then
assigns 1 and inserts the value. I have a second text box which needs
the same type of custom auto-number which has to be generated from a
second command button. ...

I have created a structure with five fields. I then create an array of this
type of structure and place the structure into an array element. Say index
one. I want to assign a value to field3 of the structure inside the array.
When I try this, an error about late assignment appears. Is it possible to
assign a value to a structure field that is in an array?
I'm currently getting around the problem by creating a new structure, assign...

I try to use "for" loop to retrieve and assign values in web form. The code
is in the following. But it can not be compiled.
What I want to do is:
txtQ1.Text = ds.Tables("mmsSpecRecord").Rows(0)("Q1")
txtQ2.Text = ds.Tables("mmsSpecRecord").Rows(0)("Q2")
.....
txtQ10.Text = ds.Tables("mmsSpecRecord").Rows(0)("Q10")
------code -------
Dim field As String = "Q"

Since implement the assign operator for reference types eliminates the
ability to assign a reference object to a reference variable of the same
type or base class of that type, I assume that implementing the assign
operator ( = ), to assign the value of a type from one object to another
rather than the reference, should only be done for value types. Is there
any other reason for implementing the assign operator for a type ?

In the following code snippet, I attempt to assign 10 to every index in
the list a and fail because when I try to assign number to 10, number
is a deep copy of the ith index (is this statement correct?).
.... number = 10
....
So, I have to resort to using enumerate to assign to the list:

Hi all, personally I'd love to be able to do something like this:
vector<intv;
v.assign(1, 2, 5, 9, 8, 7) etc
without having to manually add elements by doing v = 1, v = 2 ..
etc.
it would make for much more readable code that is faster to write in
some situations. I've not seen this feature documented anywhere

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
