hello again.
i'm now into using python instead of another language(s) for
describing structures of data, including names, structure,
type-checks, conversions, value-validations, metadata etc. And i have
things to offer, and to request.
And a lot of ideas, but who needs them....
here's an example (from type_struct.py):

Hi I have two questions. Could someone explain to me why Python is
case sensitive? I find that annoying. Also, why aren't there
multiline comments? Would adding them cause a problem of some sort?
Thanks,
Elliot

Hello, I'm sure this is a pretty easy question, but how would I
indnicate in my XML schema that I wanted to make attribute name
comparisons case insensitive? For example, is I had an element
<MYELEMENT myattr="1">
I would want the "myattr" attribute to validate against
<xs:schema name="MYATTR" type="xs:integer"/>

Hello,
I would like to know why the W3C decided not to make the following
valid XHTML:
<input checked type="radio" name="foo" value="bar" />FooBar
forcing people to write the following to make the document comply:
<input checked="checked" type="radio" name="foo" value="bar" />FooBar

Hello,
I have bumped upon this problem: I do some client-side form processing
with JavaScript, and for this I loop over all the forms in the
document. In order to identify them, I read their "name" property
(which sources from "name" HTML attribue). The problem is, that if the
form contains form control named "name", it overwrites the form name
property. In fact, I'm quite surprised that it's so easy to spoil any
of the form object...

Say I have a dropdownlist control of the US State Codes
<asp:dropdownlist id=ddlStateCode ...>
<asp:listitem value="AL">Alabama</asp:listitem>
<asp:listitem value="CA">California</asp:listitem>
etc...
In my codebehind, I have something like this:
ddlStateCode.SelectedValue = UserRecord.StateCode

Hi!
FYI: I had some trouble with the type attribute in one of my providers
in web.config. I was writing it by hand, and got this error all the
time:
Required attribute 'type' not found. (C:\...\web.config line 78)
It could not find the type attribute in my web.config file, even if it
was present. The code was something like this:

Why is C case sensitive?
I know it's a bit late to change it now but there would seem to be far
more advantages in ignoring letter case in source code.
In real life such a situation would be ridiculous (eg. the 16 ways of
writing my name) and, in some cases, frightening.
Is it to avoid having to think up new identifiers? And how would you
distinguish case when reading out bits of code over the phone for

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
