Helpful folks,
I am having a hard time figuring out how to reduce my percentage of
dirty page steal activity. Below are statistics for three fairly
normal days, with the bufferpool hit ratios and page clean
percentages, as well as an average of transaction rate for the entire
days work.
The ORDERST_BP was created to service our most active table, and I've
been assuming that the low hit ratio for this BP is what is

Someone in my group created an aspx with 12 tables on it, each with several
rows in the table. In codebehind, we often make 1 or more tables visible /
invisible. (However within each table, there is no need to make individual
rows visible / invisible). I always believed that tables are much more
overhead than just having 1 table with lots of rows (Is that true?). So, I
suggested,
"Just have 1 table, and the <tr> 's we'll make...

I am trying to deploy my first asp.net app to our webserver (2K server,
IIS 5)
My start page comes up and you can get to the subsequent pages that are
tied into our sql server (2K). Each page has a datagrid that loads up
just fine, but when I click on any link that updates the page, i.e. a
column header to sort the database, it returns a 404 error.
Any ideas why it works the for the inital load and not on a postback?

I'm using HTML tables to define the layout of a non framed aspx page.
How can I cause a page footer (html table, itself) to appear at the bottom
of the page when the page content would not be enough to expand to fill the
height of the page?
Thanks

Hi all,
i'm struggling with a page idea I have.
I need to write a page with an A to Z list of available schools in the area.
I only want to display the letters in the A to Z which have school
information under them, i.e. A,b,c,d,f if no schools beginning with e are
available.
My chosen page layout out would be

Is there a way to carry data that I have already read from the datagrid from
page to page?
I am looking at my Datagrid that I page through and when the user says get
the next page, I have to go to the database to get the next page. Is there
a way to use the dataset to allow us to read back and forth in it instead of
going back to the database to get it?
Thanks,

Hi, please look at the site http://www.prismatest.ch/catalog/EM.ASPX
(user=prismashop, password=minicooper). When paginating through the
list, the page rebuilds itself every time on firefox and IE6. On most
other sites, the browser just redraws the changing areas.
Does anyone know why this is happing? I used lots of DIVs and SPANs and
stayed away from TABLEs where not appropriate (except for the title
bar). I also use lots of CSS. Is...

I have a problem with a Visual Studio 2005 web project.
I have two pages. SelectProject.aspx and ShowProject.aspx
The first page ( SelectProject.aspx) has two drop down lists.
After the user selects the value in the first drop list the second
filters. That works fine.
But when I click the run report button to pass the data to the

Hello Fellow Programmers,
I have an issue with a very large PHP page that calls over 20 different MySql Statements. This page is loading somewhat slow and i want to speed things up. I have looked into sql caching applications like http://eaccelerator.net/ and http://www.danga.com/memcached/ which i may install later, but i feel they are more for pages that are called frequently, my page calls the same data less times but can call more than...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
