Question about the VS 2005 editions

The 2003 product line, had the standard editions, you could only work with
one single language, but, ASP.NET AND windows forms development was possible,
and it wasn't that dumbed down.

The price for a std edition: around 100$

Sadly, there isn't a true successor to those editions in the 2005 product
line. There is a standard edition, but it costs 300$, although it supports
now more than one language.

The successors to the 2003 standard editions seem to be the express
editions, but they look too dumbed down, and you can't make a web app in a c#
express edition, you need the web developer thing for that.

web developer express costs 50$, one of the single language express edition
(with winform support) cost 50$.. if you buy web developer + single language
express pack (all together 100$, same price as the old 2003 std's), how well
do they integrate? Would a combination of c# express editon and web developer
edition have around the same feature set as the old 2003 visual c# standard
edition?

If not.. can you buy the upgrade of VS 2005 std, 200$, as compared to 300$
for the full version
(http://msdn.microsoft.com/howtobuy/v...tions/stdexp/), if you have one
of the single language 2003 std editions?

I can't believe it's taking so long to get an answer about this...... well,
I guess I can because I tried to find out for you and it's nearly impossible
to find a document that shows a list of eligible products. Since you bought
VS (any edition) though, I have to assume you're eligible for the upgrade
price.

My understanding is that Microsoft will be releasing Express Editions of all their programming languages in addition to Visual Studio 2005. I was wondering if there will also be professional editions sold.

I just visited the MSFT web site and saw the comparison/pricing of the different VS 2005 versions. I was looking for a statement of the system requirements for VS Pro and VSTO, could not find. Also, more details on the differences between VS Pro and VSTO. For example, can VSTO be used to create a DLL, in particular, a DLL that can be used as an ActiveX DLL with Office? In VSTO, other than the addition of the support for Office 2003...

I just learned about, and am interested in 2 new products: Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition, and Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition. Just a few questions: Microsoft's web site says they're full of new features to make application and web development easier, and fun, etc. Are these features that they're talking about ONLY for these products, or are the same features found in the full blown Visual Studio 2005? Also, i'm a little...

Hello, I have a few questions about the 2005 editions of VB.NET and VS as a whole. Is the only stand alone VB.NET the express edition? In looking at the standard VS.NET 2005, it says deployment is "Click Once". What does that mean? Can you create msi's with the standard?

Hi all, I've been trying to find some info on Visual C++ 2005 Standard on Microsoft's site, but wasn't able to find any. There's only VC++ 2005 Express Edition, and Visual Studio 2005 Standard, Professional and Team System. What is the future of VC++ 2005 Standard? Can I somehow buy only VC++ in VS 2005 Standard?

Hi everyone. I've been trying to move some small applications written in vb.net 2003 to vb.net 2005 express just for testing purposes. I have noticed so far that the applications seem to run much slower in the 2005 version. Especially when it comes to nested loops. I haven't done much testing so it might just be this one computer but I was curious to know if anyone else has experienced these kind of problems when moving to the 2005...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
