Hiring .NET programmers. Any leads?

Anyone have any leads on where to find .NET savvy programmers in the Southern
California area? (Santa Barbara) I've tried Craigslist, DICE and Monster, so
far with little result. Any leads on groups or sites where I could find a
couple of good people to hire would be much appreciated.

I've had success in lean times by going to the user's group meetings and
making a case for the attendees to refer their friends (for a reward, of
course). These folks are some of the most active developers, but usually
not the most senior. On the other hand, they nearly always KNOW the senior
developers. Get them to refer.

This sounds like a good idea. Where do I find the local user group meetings?

My company (http://primedia.com/divisions/businessinformation/) has two job openings that we're having a heckuva time filling. We've posted at Monster, Dice, jobs.perl.org and python.jobmart.com. Can anyone advise other job boards that might be helpful? Also, feel free to have a look at the job description and let me know if there is anything that we're missing. This is the first time we've recruited specifically for these Python and...

Dear, May I ask how productivity of a(C++) programmer can be measured? If it is measured by number of code lines per day, what are the estimated productivity of a programmer at beginer, intermediate (Me), advance, master, guru, and sifu (B.Stroustrup, H.Sutter, S. Meyer)? Thanks for your guidance. NguyenMai P/S: Similar post has been sent to comp.lang.c++.moderated (probably takes longer time)

I've made it habit to check all returns in my code, and usually, on most projects, I'll have an error function that reports error messages to some central location. I recently worked on a project where someone suggested to me I was spending too much time writing error messages, and that I was therefore missing the benefit of using a scripting language. The idea, apparently, is that the PHP interpreter writes all the error messages that are...

We're a US-based start-up building new software with the Mozilla Platform and are at present seeking a lead programmer/architect for our project. At present, we're planning to build a team in India, so we'd need the lead to be on-site for 6 to 12 months. We may, however, end up developing in the US or elsewhere. We're also building websites (ideally in Python) which will work in conjunction with the client application. Our projects...

I may be opening a can of worms and don't want to start a religious war, but... What features of Java do Java programmers miss when working in C#? Other than, of course, great portability. C# has more limited cross-platform portability (Mono). I'm thinking more about data structures and ways to express algorithms.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
