Have you set AspCompat=true?

Hi,

I read your posts with great interest and tried integrating the SDKSampleApp
into a Windows Service (with calls to a function performing ExecuteQuery by
Remoting from a WinForms GUI) but also keep receiving the error message:

System.InvalidC astException: QueryInterface for interface
Microsoft.Windo ws.DesktopSearc h.Query.ISearch Desktop failed.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

The war of the OSes was won a long time ago. Unix has always been, and will continue to be, the Server OS in the form of Linux. Microsoft struggled mightily to win that battle -- creating a poor man's DBMS, a broken email server and various other /application/ servers to try and crack the Internet and IS markets. In the case where they didn't spend their own money to get companies to

Hi, I have developped a Windows applcation (in C#) that allows, among other things, users to view and control the desktop of a remote Windows XP Pro machine. I have actually simply embedded the Remote Desktop ActiveX control in my C# app and this works fine. However i have now a new requirement for my app: multiple users have to be able to view and control the same remote desktop simultaneously using my application. Big problem:...

When using the System.Diagnostic.Process object to start the application (i.e Notepad), the new app runs and it is listed on the task manger list, but the GUI doesn't show up in the desktop of the current user. I am aware windows service (either LocalSystem,...

Due to an earlier posting I read in this newsgroup regarding Office 2007 beta, I downloaded it. After I DL'd it, I got an invitation from MS to get WinVista. I am now wondering if, since both are betas, it is best to buy a new computer? My current computer setup is a Pentium 4, 1 gig memory, 2.66 ghz, 60-80 gig disk drive. MS's requirements for a WinVista computer is A modern processor (800mz)

To comply with corporate policy banning the storage of social security numbers on computers, I have been asked if I can search for files & emails that contain social security numbers. I thought that since every computer in our environment has Windows Desktop Search installed I could use that. When looking for the API, every link takes me to the main Windows Live page (link must be dead). Anyone have a good link to the API (2.x)? ...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
