I have a need to include Greek letters in some of my XML documents (the
documents contain astronomical information and many stars are named using
Greek letters). Following some earlier postings on the subject of
entities. I did the following
---- top of file ----
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!-- I added this to an existing document. -->
<!DOCTYPE observation-set >

Okay, you are all so smart in here. Answer me this:
IE6 in standards mode doesn't seem to hide scrollbars on the body element
(overflow:hide) Ain't this a quandary. I have it in my head that I need to
specify html instead. The scrollbars do hide on Gecko browsers though, so
there is definitely a disagreement among browser developers on how to
implement scrollbars (as a side note, Gecko browsers with their notoriously
bug-ridden...

How can you validate Javascript generated HTML for XHTML 1.0 strict
compliance?
To avoid the "<" and "&" problem, all inline scripts MUST be enclosed
with either:
<!-- script --> Looked down upon at the w3 site.
//<!]> Recommended.
Or put into an external js file.
However, when using any of these methods, you can use any none XHTML

I heard that beta 2 now makes ASP.NET xhtml compliant.
Can anyone shed some light on what this will change and it will break stuff
as converting HTML to XHTML pages DO break things. see,
http://www.alistapart.com/articles/betterliving/
I read on
http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/default.aspx?pull=/library/en-us/dnnetdep/html/netfxcompat.asp
It said they changed stuff like this

My take on problems composing, serving and rendering XHTML
documents/web pages:
1. Typical conscientious web authors are producing XHTML documents (Web
pages) that feature valid Markup and with the content (MIME) type
specified as text/html
(http://keystonewebsites.com/articles/mime_type.php). These pages are
then loaded on to their Server where they are served to Rendering
Agents (browsers) as HTML (SGML application) documents with no...

I am trying to find a way to load XHTML content in an Iframe.
I use to do this in html by using the following code :
var iframeObject = document.createElement("iframe");
MyDiv.appendChild(iframeObject);
var data =
"<html><head><title>testing</title></head><body>data</body></html>"
iframeObject.contentDocument.open();
iframeObject.contentDocument.writeln(data);

I am now writing many new pages in xhtml 1.1. They are served as true
xhtml by setting the mime type of the server to application/xhtml+xml
for the .xhtml extension. Since IE6 and some earlier browsers can not
handle this mime type, a simple php include is at the very top of such
pages. If the mentioned mime type support for the viewing browser is
detected, everything above the head tag of the page is written in xhtml
1.1 code. If the...

Just discovered something useful to share.
From Firefox 1.5 in memory caching is used. The onload event only fires when
the page first loads and not when the user navigates away and back to the
page. To ensure code in the onload event fires every time the user moves to
the page you need to use the onpageshow event (which is prioprieyt for
firefox).
At Mozilla Developer Center > Using Firefox 1.5 caching >...

Is it possible to serve valid xhtml with php?
xhtml requires the 1st line:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
But php interprets the opening <? as a php statement.
If I try to echo this in PHP:
<?php
echo '<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>';
?>

Hi folks,
I have created an animated image gallery in dhtml. It works fine in
Internet Explorer. In Firefox, it only works if I ommit the DOCTYPE tag.
The page is valid xhtml-strict but with a xhtml1-strict DOCTYPE, I get a
dead script and dozens of error messages like "Error in parsing value in
property 'width'. Declaration dropped." on Line 0.
This page doesn't work in Firefox but is valid xhtml:...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
