VT_RECORD problem: VC++6 ActiveX and VB .Net interaction

Moi
Hello,
sorry if this has been asked over & over, in which case, please someone
points me
to the answer :)

My situation:

I've an ActiveX witten in VC++6, it has several methods returning a
VT_RECORD struct in Variant,
as well as arrays of struct.

It's working ok with VB6 but unfortunately, VB .Net chokes when invoking
such function
(no interop for VT_RECORD).

It seems that the way to go is by implemeting custom marshalling, but how ?
I'd prefer my VC6 ActiveX wouldn't become dependent on .Net if possible...
Never marshalled before, so I'm afraid I'll need explicit directions ;-)

Thanks & best regards,
Laurent

I have an application that was fully developed in VC++ 6.0 using MFC. I have to enhance the application in 2 ways: 1. Add some graphics stuff (draw graphs), and 2. Perform serial port communications Unfortunately, for 1, I've been given an ActiveX component that was developed using .NET. My questions are: 1. Is there some way of directly "using" the .NET Activex component in

I have a problem that I am trying to solve. We have a huge product with a whole lot of ASP and VB code. VB code is all ActiveX dlls which are used by ASP app. When I attempt to add features or fix bugs, I like to execute the dlls in debug so I can see what is going on. (Some folks in my org seem to have this kinda wacky bias against debugging, as if *real* programmers should not need a debugger. Whatever, it is the fastest way for me to get...

I'm currently charged with the task of writing a customized business application. This app will perform order entry, invoicing, accounting, etc. type tasks. Can anyone justify a decision to write this app in VC++.net as opposed to writing it in VB.net? Assumptions: everyone in department knows both languages. we have access to all needed resources.

I have an ActiveX control in my web page that I tried to access using intranet. I have implemented IObjectSafety in the ActiveX control, and when I created the CAB file using VB Pakage and Deployment Wizard, under "Safety Settings" I selected "Yes" for "Safe for Scripting" and "Yes" for "Safe for Initialization". I also have signed the CAB file. In IE, the option 'Script ActiveX controls marked Safe for Scripting' is already set to...

I have created an ActiveX and load it into the Component in ToolBox in the Visual Studio IDE. After create a web form project (VB.NET), I drag the activeX component into the web form design, set ID and name for it in the property, and the HTML looks like: <OBJECT id="AxCarControlID" style="Z-INDEX: 101; LEFT: 56px; WIDTH: 616px; POSITION: absolute; TOP: 304px; HEIGHT: 120px" classid="clsid:65A0EEC0-745F-11D3-B92E-0020781238D4"...

I am new to flash and want someone to guide me, Is it possible to create a UI entirely in Flash and that will inetract with C# components (backend) and these components will in return interact with database etc. If flash and C# interaction is possbile then, what are the prons and cons of this interaction? As using flash, one can create wonderful UI. But in return I also want it to interact fully with C# components.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
