Mixing VC++/MFC app with .NET/Activex components

I have an application that was fully developed in VC++ 6.0 using MFC.
I have to enhance the application in 2 ways:
1. Add some graphics stuff (draw graphs), and
2. Perform serial port communications

Unfortunately, for 1, I've been given an ActiveX component that was
developed using .NET.

My questions are:
1. Is there some way of directly "using" the .NET Activex component in
VC++ 6.0? I can then write the serial port comm module in VC++ 6.0
(since its far more difficult to write seril I/O in .NET), or
2. Should I port my VC++ application to .NET, directly use the Activex
component and write a serial I/O module in .NET, or
3. Is there another, more elegant solution?
Thanks in advance

I'm writing an application in VB.NET that uses various 3rd party ActiveX components. My problem is that if I register these ActiveX components (using COMSelfRegister) during the install and later uninstall my application, the ActiveX components are removed - breaking any other applications that still need them. If I don't register the ActiveX components, and they are not already installed on the computer, my application will not run. ...

Hello all, in VB6 we were able to create ActiveX-DLL's (In Process Components) and ActiveX-Exe's (Out of Process Components). We habe build up an application that exists of an main module (Standard Exe) that calls and controls other modules (ActiveX-Exe). We decided for ActiveX-Exe because they run in different processes. That means if one module shuts down, the others are still alive. Second reasons

Hello Suppose a C++/CLI application would need a large array (30-50) of an ActiveX Component. Since creating ActiveX components at runtime in C++/CLI is very difficult at best, the only other alternative that I can think of is to drop 30-50 of these components on a Windows Form. Is there a better way? Thanks very much in advance.

I have a problem with some VC++ (v5 sp3 compiled in debug mode) server component which perfrom Data Acces. These have been in production on NT4.0 and w2k. However when we try to use them on Server 2003 we only get partial functionality. So far we have noticed that when the components are returning large set of data that they fail. The following errors are entered in the Event Log and point to msvcrt.dll and oleaut32.dll. In this...

I am creating an ActiveX control that should contain a reference to a certain COM interface. I have written before a C# application containing this COM interface but my problem is that it seems not to be possible to add a reference to my COM interface within my vc++ ActiveX controller. Perhaps Im missing some fundemental understanding about ActiveX controllers. So I guess my question is. Is it possible to add a reference to a COM...

I have Access 2003 installed and everything worked fine several months ago. Now, anytime I try to use any of the wizards, I get this message: "ActiveX component can't create object" What do I need to do to fix this? I uninstalled Office 2003, then installed it again, but no luck.

Hello there. Could you recommend any decent GUI libraries meant for VC++ (unmanaged code)? I've heard about Xtreme Toolkit by Codejock, what else is worth looking into? Regards, P.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
