ActiveX components

I have Access 2003 installed and everything worked fine several months ago.
Now, anytime I try to use any of the wizards, I get this message:

"ActiveX component can't create object"

What do I need to do to fix this? I uninstalled Office 2003, then installed
it again, but no luck.

Hi, I've run into a rather odd problem. get Methods seem to return values from the wrong methods! For example, let's pretend my activex control stores values about a person. getName would return their age, while getAge might return null! Something is also going wrong with my method that accepts input and returns a value (okay, it is a money conversion program!)... it is returning null! They are consistently returning the same, wrong...

I'm writing an application in VB.NET that uses various 3rd party ActiveX components. My problem is that if I register these ActiveX components (using COMSelfRegister) during the install and later uninstall my application, the ActiveX components are removed - breaking any other applications that still need them. If I don't register the ActiveX components, and they are not already installed on the computer, my application will not run. ...

Hello all, in VB6 we were able to create ActiveX-DLL's (In Process Components) and ActiveX-Exe's (Out of Process Components). We habe build up an application that exists of an main module (Standard Exe) that calls and controls other modules (ActiveX-Exe). We decided for ActiveX-Exe because they run in different processes. That means if one module shuts down, the others are still alive. Second reasons

I have the SystemMonitor ActiveX control on a form and I try to register a custom performance counter. I expect that after registering the counter with the OS, the user would be able to add it through this System Monitor ActiveX control on the form. Yet, the Add dialog of this ActiveX does NOT contain the already registered counter. Does anyone know what might be wrong? Code snippet follows at the end. BTW if I have the code that registers...

I am using an ActiveX control in a .NET application which I put on a form. I have another .NET control on that form that handles the Validating event. The method that handles the Validating event, shows a message box and sets e.Cancel = True. When I click any other control in the form, the message box shows and the focus returns to the control that handled the Validating event. The problem happens when I click on the ActiveX control. The...

Hello, I am trying to display external activeX components inside a window of my own program. That component could be for example a Word document or a PowerPoint application. I have found some code samples that show how to do this but now I would need a reference document which lists the available components, objects and methods provided by Microsoft Office.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
