I have a large form that is generated dynamically in a jsp using xml / xslt. So, to
break up this form into several "tabbed" sections, I break up the form using <div>
tags. Each <div style="display:none"> can be displayed by setting the style attribute
to "display:", or hidden with "display:none". This gives the illusion that the person
filling out the form is switching from page to page...without the overhead of extra
hits on the server,...

I have a client who would like to have several pictures associated
with one system. I have read about storing only the pathname to save
OLE overhead and have set-up a form for my client to browse/add one
picture at a time to a system. Now he would like to 'view' all of the
thumbnails associated with any system on a single form.
I can setup a main/subform scenario, but how do I show all of the
pictures as thumbnails. I was using the...

We have two widescreen laptops in our office, and one client laptop that does
not display our applications properly. Specifically, when displayed in a
wide screen resolution it appears that bitmaps on our forms become shrunk.
This causes items to no longer lineup properly and become unusable. We have
contacted the video card maker for the laptop and downloaded the latest
drivers for the card, along with contacting dell. We still have the...

I have recently inherited a vb.net desktop application that has a font
problem. The previous developer says he compiled the application one time on
a laptop with a widescreen. Since that compile all of the text in the
application (labels, text in textboxes, text in dropdowns, etc.) is of a
much smaller font. Its like something globally changed the font settings.
I've never seen anything like this. Does anyone have any idea of how to...

I have very basic html skills. My friend who has a wide screen
monitor and is using IE7 sent me a jpg screen shot of my home page.
I have attached this jpg, but I recall a while back that attachments
were discouraged. I am sorry if I have offended anyone by attaching.
Note the left side table tiles or repeats towards the right side of
the screen, but the text does not, so it cannot be seen under the
graphic.

As 16:9 widescreens become more common, are there any designs which
are specifically created to somehow exploit any advantages offered by
letterbox dimensions?
How to remain backwards-compatible with 4:9 aspect ratios, in a visual/
aesthetic sense, while exploting the particular advantages of a wide
canvas?
I did see a "16:9 design" from csszengarden.com featured in the book
"Web Standards Creativity," but on a regular 4:9 screen it...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
