TCP Listener does not close Client connections

Hello,

I have a TCPclient and TCPListener created from MS sample code. They do
communicate, but the client sockets do not seem to be closed totally even
though there is a TCPclient.Close done in the client code.

I watch the network connections using "netstat -an | find "10000" ". Every
time a client socket is closed using TCPclient.close it remains in the
CLOSE_WAIT state. I think this a server side problem because this does not
happen when a commercial TCP socket control is used as a Listener (server).

Any suggestions? - Thanks !

When vb6 Winsock.RemoteHost is set to "127.0.0.1", c# socket listener cannot hear connect request (my old vb6 winsock listener could hear it...). Why doesn't this work, and is there a work around I can make on the C# side to hear the connect request? -Bill (don't reply by e-mail, the address is a fake) ______________________________ Steps to reproduce: Start the C# Listener

Context: C# System.Net.Sockets Socket created with constructor prarmeters Internetwork, Stream and TCP everything else is left at the default parameters and options except linger may be changed as I find appropriate. I am using the socket asynchronously by calling the BeingSend and BeginReceive calls. I would like to be able to call shutdown and close asynchronously if possible.

I've tried the following code straight out of MSDN. But my app still blocks while listening. Isn't this code supposed to keep the UI responsive while listening? Or maybe I'm not doing it right.... any help is begged for ;-) Public Class Listener Public Event Connected(ByVal client As TcpClient) Public ClientConnected As New ManualResetEvent(False) Public Sub DoBeginAcceptTcpClient()

I need to keep a few VB6 tcpClients active, but have them talk to a dotNet tcpServer/tcpListener. The "Server"/Listener is running as a Plugin, and needs to respond to "outside requests". The dotNet versions of the exe's that make these requests take MUCH longer to load and start than the VB6 versions, so I'd like to keep the VB6 versions active (at least until the dotNet versions will load more quickly). Is there a way for these...

I have been perplexed by how to best treat an event that spans different classes. For example, I have a form which a user inputs data. I want to broadcast that data via an event to another class (seen globally) having a data structure which saves that form data to disk. Whenever the form updates the data I'd like to broadcast the information and have it saved in my global data structure. The perplexing thing for me though is the...

Hi, First off, I am aware that this is a very heavily documented error and I have done my homework for throughly researching probable causes before deciding to post my problem here. At this point, I believe another set of eyes on the issue is merited. I am a MSSQL DBA and somewhat new to ORACLE; but I have read the administrators manual having a basic thorough level of knowledge (Tho' I am still learning) and understanding of how to...

I have a socket class CTestClientSocket which I am using to simulate load testing. I create multiple instances of the client like this: for (int i = 0; i < 5; i++) { CTestClientSocket* pTemp = new CTestClientSocket(this, ip, port); pTemp->Connect(); m_collClients.push_back(pTemp);

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
