CreateFile without administrator privilege

Hi, I want to write MBR of a removal disk, compact flash card.
I use CreateFile() function to access the removal disk, but I can't get
valid disk handle because I don't have an administration privilege in Windows
XP.
Can't I use CreateFile() function without administrator privilege?
Do you know any other ways?
Please give me your ideas.

Best Regards,
toshizo

Hello all, We are using SQL Server 2000 (Enterprise Edition) Merge Replication to synchronize databases between a main server database and about 200 local MSDE databases. Recently, we upgraded our QA server from build 8.00.928 to SP4. Since then, the Snapshot Agent fails to create files on our File Server. We have checked and double-checked all permissions, shares, etc. But we keep getting the following error randomly on any step:

Hy! I'm a newbie to VB 2005 and I have to connect my program to a driver previously developed for a custom ISA card. With my old VB 6 code I used the routine CreateFileA exported from kernel32 with this defination: Declare Function CreateFile Lib "kernel32" Alias "CreateFileA" (ByVal lpFileName As String, ByVal dwDesiredAccess As Long, ByVal dwShareMode As Long, ByVal NULLSecurityAttributes As Long, ByVal dwCreationDisposition As Long,...

I'd like to test in my script, if it's going to be possible to enable priviliges. If I use this... netscape.security.PrivilegeManager.enablePrivilege("UniversalXPConnect") ....it presents a dialog to the user asking if it's ok. Now I don't want to hide that dialog, I'd like to know if it's going to be possible to click the Allow button, before ever making this call. Basically I need

Hi all, sorry for Crossposting, but i dont know whether someone can help me here. If i remember right, there was a Class or a Member function in the .NET Framework that could do mostly the same as CreateFile can do for me, but i cant remember its Name. By saying the "same" i mean i was able to use it to open Handles to Devices and anything that could be opened with CreateFile and had a Symbolic Name that has been exported from Kernel...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
