Working with Offline files and HSM

Hi,

I would like to know what technique is used in an Hierarchical Storage
Management (HSM) configuration to allow applications to wait for an offline
file that has been migrated through HSM to be recalled before opening the
file.

Does the stub(offline) file have to be in a specific format so the
application knows to wait? I tried setting a file to offline in vb.net and
then opened it in Word but it opened it without waiting.

Thanks,

I have a problem where when I run the PHP code offline, there are no errors produced and the code runs as expected. However when I uploaded the same script and run it, it says the headers have already been sent. The script is for a "downloader" type script, where the user clicks on a file link (to the PHP script) using $_GET to pass the selected files ID to the script, and the information about the file is read out from a database, also...

I've got an online system which I'm interested in making available offline - i.e. letting the user download certain HTML forms, fill them out offline, then the next time he logs into the site, sending all the data he filled out to the system. However, I can't seem to come up with a good way to do this. I thought of using cookies (that'd be great, since the system could detect them automatically), but it seems I can't set cookies for my...

Hi, I have downloaded the source code and installed everything on http://validator.w3.org/source/. I have the validator 'working' offline with Apache2. I have uploaded a valid XHTML 1 Strict file to the online validator and it passes with flying colours. When I pass it to my offline version, it says, "This page is not Valid XHTML 1.0 Strict!". This happens with both the Address and Local File methods. I tried the command line...

This is a bit long-winded. Can somebody read thru these 2 use cases, and tell me if it is feasible ? :- Use Case : Replication before Offline Synch Scenario 1 : Oracle Server , MSDE client 1. User clicks on 'Go Offline'. System creates a MSDE SQL database in laptop (client), gets the schemas of the tables in Oracle, creates corresponding tables in client's MSDE SQL (mapping Oracle datatypes to SQL

I have recently begun to migrate our DB2 UDB v7.2 enterprise databases up to DB2 UDB v8.2. One question I can't seem to understand is why would I want to run an offline backup for a database now that the online backup includes the necessary log files. Is there a reason why I would need or want to go through the hassle of getting exclusive control of a db for an offline backup?

Hi I am trying to write a MailItem to Outbox. The whole idea is for the program to be able to add mail when offline. I get the following error when I try to run the program offline. I should be able to add the mail to outbox even though if I am offline. An unhandled exception of type 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException' occurred in Testing.exe

Hi All We are having a VB application on SQL. But we need to collect information from persons who will be offline to verify data and insert new data. Generally they will be entering the data in Excel spread sheets which can be uploaded to the database using the application after some validations. But rather than Excel I was looking at Infopath with Access as the database, to create validation rules and collect data offline that can be...

I'm having trouble setting up offline folders with encryption under WinXP. I've followed the guidance provided here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/312221 but when I try to synchronise I get "Access denied" errors - the folder structure is setup ok, the files are not copied over. The user has administrator-level privileges on the PC (not the domain) and is the owner of the files. I can successfully synchronise offline folders without...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
