The main reason for this is the fact that people in India, Nepal,
Bangladesh, China, etc. can not afford the heavily priced software
originating from US (Canada, Europe, etc). The ratio between US Dollar and
Indian Rupee is 1:45. If MS, Adobe, Corel, Quark, Oracle, etc want to
increase the sale of their licences in India (and reduce the percentage of
pirated s/w) then they must bring down the cost of their s/w for these
countries.

This practice is already present in books. Most technical books have
editions printed in Indian subcontinent for sale in these area only which
are priced between 1/10th to 1/5th of the original USD price.

Pavanaja

Actually, if the Chinese would lift their dollar peg, the dollar would
probably fall to a more reasonable ratio between the rupee!

but heck, MS, Adobe, Quark, etc, are all expensive even in America!

:-)

Note this is crossposted to comp.lang.javacript and microsoft.public.dotnet.scripting. After some Googling and FAQing my understanding of these terms is, crudely: Javascript (3 different definitions): 1. The scripting language originally developed by Netscape. (I offer a Brief handle: "Original Netscape Script") 2. The current implementation of the ECMAscript 262 (3rd ed.) standard by Netscape. (I offer a brief handle: "Current...

I recently upgraded from Visual Studio .NET 2003 to Visual Studio .NET 2005. Visual Studio .NET 2005 does not create the Global.asax files that Visual Studio .NET 2003 did, which I used for variables such as the location of my database. What is the conventional way of creating global variables for purposes like this in Visual Studio .NET 2005? Thanks. -- Nathan Sokalski njsokalski@hotmail.com http://www.nathansokalski.com/

(New to SQL Server Installs) I installed SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition on a WinXP-SP2 workstation and can see some enterprise databases on the network just fine. My problem is I cannot register a local database on the local drive for testing/education purposes. (I accepted all of the defaults on the install and thought all was well.)

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
