Can you give a little more detail? are you changing the web.config file on
the server?

Yes, I changed the trace attributes in the web.config to turn on.

<trace enabled="true" requestLimit="1 0" pageOutput="tru e"
traceMode="Sort ByTime" localOnly="true " />

It seems to run, then stop. Then after a few minutes it turns back on
again. I just noticed the attribute requestLimit. Maybe it has something to
do with this problem.

I cannot explain why tracing on the server (tracing to the page) goes on and
off. When it is not working the trace.axd seems to still work however.

I set <%@ Page Language = "vb" ... Trace="true" %> when doing a sing along with the Course 2310B textbook. The book says the trace output will be shown at the bottom of the web page. The result I get is that the trace output overwrites the controls on the web page. Question: How can I make the trace output start at the bottom of the page? -- Lamont Phemister

When I set trace enable to true in my web.config file, the debug info does not display at the "bottom" of the page, it displays "under" all of my buttons, labels, grids etc. This behavior happens in GridLayout, or FlowLayout. ? Thanks, TPS.

I'm experiencing a problem where, for seemingly no reason, trace output stops being logged (and appearing on my pages.) trace.enabled suddenly just turns to false. Any idea why this happens? It actually is happening on 2 machines I work on. Thanks.

I have installed visual studio .net and now i started to write the first few examples from the 70-315 book by Kalani. It looks like all server side code that i put between <% %> doesnt process from an aspx file. Even a page with <%@ Page Language = "c#" Trace="True" %> doesnt show the trace information. If i create an .asp file, the server side code between <% %> will process and display correctly on the page.

When Tracing in ASP.NET, the IIS process (on IIs5.1) is locking on the Trace file, and I can't read the trace file without restarting the IIS: Even the following does NOT work (how could I fix this??): System.Diagnostics.Trace.WriteLine(System.DateTime.Now.ToLongTimeString()+ "--" + dirException.ToString()); System.Diagnostics.Trace.Flush(); ((System.Diagnostics.TraceListener) System.Diagnostics.Trace.Listeners).Close();

Hi, I'm an MFC programmer and know little about .NET programming. Now, for some reasons, I'm developing an ASP .NET application... What I need to know is how to output into VS's Output Window like what MFC's TRACE macro does (during debugging). Could you please share your knowledge with me? Thanks in advance.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
