Hello all,
for my image processing application I need a large amount of virtual memory.
I read, that it is normaly possible to get 2GB of virtual memory for each
process and when you modify the boot.ini file it should be possible to get
3GB vitual memory for one process.
I have tried to allocate nearly 2GB in my application, but I receive the
SystemOutOfMemory Exception. It is only possible to allocate a little bit
more than 1GB. I...

Hello,
We are experiencing some issues with the aspnet_wp process on our live
servers. The problems are intermittent and we cannot reproduce it on our dev
and test servers.
Currently around twice a day the aspnet_wp process takes 100% of the cpu and
causes the whole website to come to a stand still. We then have to end the
process for the website to become useable. Once the aspnet_wp process
recycled itself and in the event logs it...

Hi,
My production machine has 2G of memory, when aspnet_wp.exe goes up to about
~1.2G of memory usage, I start get out-of-memory exception. Other processes
don't use as much memory and I added all the peak memory usage of all the
processes (including aspnet_wp.exe), it goes up to no more than 1.5.
How is that possible? Would anyone know please help? thanks!

Hy,
i need to process every character in a file, so i open the file read
in buffers of about 8192bytes and process each buffer, then i write
the output to another file.
the problem is that with large files(>8Mb) i get a script error(Fatal
error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded ).
i acess every character in the buffer with
$chr=ord($bufferIn{$i}); (where $i=0...8192)
seems like all he time the script consumes is in the for...

I'm running a python program that simulates a wireless network
protocol for a certain number of "frames" (measure of time). I've
observed the following:
1. The memory consumption of the program grows as the number of frames
I simulate increases.
To verify this, I've used two methods, which I invoke after every
frame simulated:

consider the below code. it just creates a map and inserts 51000000
elements. when i check the memory usage , it shows an increase of
memory after the loop. the increase is around 2mb. i used "ps aux"
command and use the VSZ value.
why is this happening? i dont see any memory leaks as nothing is
created in heap/free store.
is this some kind of a memory fragmentation issue?

I've just closed all windows in Firefox and its using 244MB of memory.
I have no idea why. I had GMail open, a page from unicode, the CLJ FAQ.
I've noticed that createElement leaks. It's obvious with form controls
because the form keeps the control name as a property.

ONU (Optical Network Unit) is one of the key components for providing high-speed Internet services. Its primary function is to act as an endpoint device located at the user's premises. However, people are often confused as to whether an ONU can Work As a Router. In this blog post, we’ll explore What is ONU, What Is Router, ONU & Router’s main usage, and What is the difference between ONU and Router. Let’s take a closer look !

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
