I've made a program that fetches data from an ODBC data source. Everything works fine when the table contains only a few rows. The problem is that when there are many rows (6000, in this case), the program terminates with the following OdbcException
"ERROR Error initializing the cache for disk storage
The SQL statement is simple
"SELECT * FROM Items;
If the SQL statement is reduced to this
"SELECT...

I have a website which allows people to view interesting radiology
cases. It is for teaching radiology residents. It is designed to run
in fullscreen or 'kiosk' mode, at 1024 x 768 resolution only.
http://www.casespace.net
I designed it with firefox (plus the autohide extension) in mind, but
also want to support IE.
Online and offline it works great in Firefox. Offline it also works

Hi,
Does anyone know how to get an offline reference to an assembly that has
been downloaded using Assembly.LoadFrom.
E.g. Application downloads the assembly while it in online... next time it
is run it is offline and needs to still use that same assembly.
Assembly.LoadFrom throws an exception.
Cheers,
Greg

Is there a way (using ADSI or WMI) to create a share remotely (on a server for instance) and turn off caching (for offline folders)?
We have been able to successfully use ADSI and WMI (WMI being the best solution) to create the share. However, we have been unable to set the offline caching to be turned off.

I have a problem with a big ASP.net app with users saving pages to the disk
and then opening them from the disk, filing them and trying to post them
back. Seems IE posts them back to the original website!!!
And not only that, but ASP.net replies normally then as if the user had
visited a website's page
So I may have a user saving off the login page, then logging in from the
offline saved page. It will log them in OK, but later on as...

When I'm connected to a remote network via a VPN
connection and open a WebForm project, I experience a
considerable delay. During this delay, an "Initializing
offline cache" message appears in the bottom bar of
VS .NET. Is there some way of speeding up this project
opening?

Hi,
We are having a few problems with ASP.Net pages hanging during load when an
Application Pool is recycled. To test this we have setup the following
ASP.net page which refreshes every 2 seconds:
<%@ Page language="c#" %>
<%@ Import Namespace="System" %>
<%@ Import Namespace="System.IO" %>

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
