Hi gurus.
I've got a deployment project that included the project output from
two other project in my solution. They have almost identical file
dependencies. In fact, they both have references to a 4th project in
my solution that house core biz functionality. My problem is that the
deployment project shows duplicate depencency items for everything.
What's the best practice here? My compile works and the install works
but I get tons...

I found out that only using winform I can use the winword interop and
generate word document in the client machine and connect to a remote
database, so that I have made a winform application which accesses
winword on the client and a remote db.
Afterwards I wanted to use the no touch deployment but the winform
cannot anymore start winword on the client, and I get a security
exception.
Does that mean that I cannot use no touch deployment...

I use 23 C++ librairies, define in VCPROJ, for an application. I must
admit
that with time dependencies between those librairies are not clean at
all. Is it possible to get all libraries dependencies? Is there a tool
to do that?
For exemple:
My Lib\lib1
My Lib\lib2

Hello Everybody,
I'm using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 (with Vc7 compiler)
I have some 15 projects each of which generate a static library when i
build the solution in release mode.
The solution also contains a project which includes all the above
generated static libraries.I have set all the above projects as
dependent projects in the 'Project Dependencies' option.

How do I add componants to the installation package so they will be
installed with the installer?
I have some COM DLL's that have dependencies (late bound) and I wish to
include those dependencies in the deployment project. If I add them to the
project directly, .NET wants to build an interop around it which is not
necessary. I see a node for detected dependencies in the deployment
project, but no place to manually add files.
Thanks,

Hi All,
I've build a winform application with vb.net which accepts command-line
parameters.
If I tell windows to open certain files with this application all works
fine, but windows does NOT show the application name in the short-cut menu or
in the dialog "choose program" as it does for other programs.
I've set all assembly settings in the assemblyinfo file I could find, but
that doesn't help. Where should I define the name???

Hi,
I have deployed a .NET winform application using a web server. The
application has some dependencies on a 3rd party assemblies.
1) If I have those assemblies dlls in a client's GAC, the client could
run the application.
2) Also, if the client doesn't use the web deployment, but the XCOPY
approach where the assemblies dlls are included in the same directory

Im trying to deploy a windows service and a windows application together
with my web application in the same setup msi. It works sometimes, but
suddenly I cant build the msi. I get errors like:

Although circular dependencies are something developers should normally
avoid, unfortunately they are very easy to create accidentally between
classes in a VS project (i.e. circular compile-time dependencies). But
then I started wondering how "easy" it would be to similarly make a
NON-RUNTIME circular dependency between (implicitly linked) DLLs.
Indeed authors like John Lakos, who focus on compile/link-time
dependencies (not run-time),...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
