Hi gurus.
I've got a deployment project that included the project output from
two other project in my solution. They have almost identical file
dependencies. In fact, they both have references to a 4th project in
my solution that house core biz functionality. My problem is that the
deployment project shows duplicate depencency items for everything.
What's the best practice here? My compile works and the install works
but I get tons...

Hi,
I have deployed a .NET winform application using a web server. The
application has some dependencies on a 3rd party assemblies.
1) If I have those assemblies dlls in a client's GAC, the client could
run the application.
2) Also, if the client doesn't use the web deployment, but the XCOPY
approach where the assemblies dlls are included in the same directory

Hi,
I've created a small program using vb.net (an exe). I created another
project to install this program on another machine (XP). This install program
directs them to the msdn website to download files.
How can make my install program install all files needed? My understanding
is that this was the default behaviour of the setup project wizard.
I'm not sure if this info is needed to answer my question but I'll include

This may not be the best group to post to, so if there are any
suggestions as to a different group, please let me know.
Here is what we are doing, we have a couple of dlls that are shared
(i.e. used by a number of other dlls and applications). These dlls have
their own setup process, built with VS2003 setup and deployment package.
They are strongly named and have keys. We specify to deploy to the GAC only
on the target production server....

Ok, I am just checking some information.
I have created my setup package. The only dependencies that are not
included are the OWC.dll and Office9.dll. All of the computers that I am
going to deploy my application to have Office 9 installed. So there should
be no problems with my application installing right? I will have no
embarrassing moments of this works in development, but...
Let me know now so I can fix it. I HATE to be...

Hello all,
I'm new to VB.net and have just built a small application that makes
use of some VB6 ocx such as mscomm32.ocx for data communication with a
machine. The application runs OK but when I tried to build the
installer using the Setup and Deployment Projects, I always get the
following warning messages saying that the dependencies cannot be
found as follows:
WARNING: Unable to find dependency 'INTEROP.RICHTEXTLIB'

I was intending to use an XCOPY install for a VS2005 C# WinForms app but
when I copied the files and ran the app on a clean machine it failed when it
needed Crystal Reports. Can you not use XCOPY deployment if you have
Crystal Reports dependencies?
Is there an available Crystal redistribution package I can run before doing
my XCOPY deployment?
TIA

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
