This is my first time posting here, so please forgive me if I do anything
incorrectly.
I've been learning C# and working with different things and decided I wanted
to get into Multi-Threading. My problem is that I must not be doing it right
because only some of the stuff works as would be expected. I'll post what
exactly is happening, then I'll post the sample code I'm using that is
giving me the problems. I'm sure its something I've...

I'm working on a class that needs to be called from a windows form, do it's
work, and then, show progress back to the main form. I'm well aware that
worker threads need to call Invoke for updates to the main thread to be
threadsafe. I want to make this worker class I'm writing a self contained
assembly so that other's can drop it into their projects. My question is:
How can I NOT force those implementing my class to have to call...

I have a class written in C# which uses a worker thread
internally to do some processing. It's possible that an
exceptional situation can arise in the worker thread, and as
the class is presently written, it throws an exception in
those cases.
But I don't think this is a good design. I don't see how
these exceptions can be caught. Plus, exiting a thread by
throwing an exception probably isn't very clean either.

In my multi-threaded application, a Win32 structured exception is
occasionally thrown from a worker thread. Or perhaps a worker thread might
throw a C++ exception. I can catch the Win32 structured exception in my
Main thread and take remedial action. However the C++ exception appears to
be handle by something (the CRT ?) which (a) pops up an unwanted dialog box
and (b) terminates my thread without my main thread ever getting to hear...

Hello All:
I've got a question about synchronization requiremements in a C# worker
thread procedure that, among other things, sinks events from outside
sources. I realize the worker thread will be interrupted to handle an
incoming event (and the flow of execution subsequently diverted to the
respective event handler). My question is at what point or points could
this interruption occur. Will it only occur when the worker thread is...

First of all, is it 'legal' (i.e. thread-safe) to pass events back from
a worker thread to the main thread? I.E. Can one put PUBLIC EVENT XYZ
in their worker thread and then raise that event for processing back in
the main thread? I believe this is OK, but I want to check first...
Secondly, if this is 'legal', what happens in the following scenario:
Lets say that in my main (Win Form) program/thread I spawn two worker
threads. Thread one...

Hi all,
I have a windows form that uses an imported COM class to talk to a legacy
system. The COM object works asynchronously - An event is fired when data
has
been returned.
This works fine, except that Im getting too many events fired! Thus my
windows form becomes pretty sluggish and unresponsive, and CPU utilistaion
is pretty high.

I am trying to learn how to create an application that uses worker threads
to prevent the UI from freezing up.
My question is: Is the following code considered "thread safe"?
If not, what am I doing wrong?
Thanks

ONU (Optical Network Unit) is one of the key components for providing high-speed Internet services. Its primary function is to act as an endpoint device located at the user's premises. However, people are often confused as to whether an ONU can Work As a Router. In this blog post, we’ll explore What is ONU, What Is Router, ONU & Router’s main usage, and What is the difference between ONU and Router. Let’s take a closer look !

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
