Application Center Test - Local policy rights problem.

Hi

When I run a test I get the error message:

"Could not start the test. Provider load failure (0x80041013)"

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=318849 appears to address the problem.
However...

Under "log on locally"

I have the \ACTUser with ticks in both the "Local Policy Setting" and the
"Effective Policy Setting"

Under "log on as a batch job"

I have the \ACTUser with a tick in the "Local policy setting" but it's
un-ticked in the "Effective policy setting".

If I understand correctly, the second column takes into account the Domain
policy settings. However, our Domain Admin chap can't find anything that's
overriding my local setting.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Griff

Sorted

I went into the dcomcfg and changed the ACTUser to run as the interactive
user.

You are still Lucky.

MS does not fix a similar error 0x80041012 'could not load provider' I
cannot use ACT anymore...
And they end up saying: "Your WMI is corrupt, we will fix this in future". I
can assure, it is not corrupt on my PC...

Greetings: I had seen several posts around the Internet about this issue from a few months back, but have been unable to find a resolution ... I have a user who is trying to get started with Visual Studio.NET 2003. We have uninstalled and reinstalled the Product.... then we did a complete cleanout of development products, re-installed IIS, and reinstalled JUST Visual Studio.NET 2003 with Framework 1.1 (no more 2002 edition or...

Hi - I have developed a .NET WinForms application and will be looking to write an installer shortly. I'm a bit concerned regarding security. If the application is installed to the local harddisk, then I don't see a problem as that will inherit full trust; but if the user installs the application to a network drive then I envisage that the default rights will prevent the application from running.

All, If anyone has been following my trials over the last week see(Setting up a Web Application on IIS 5.1 and ASP.Net Security Problems). I'm having a problem running a Asp.Net Web Application. I've finally narrowed the problem down to a security issue: The ASPNET (aspnet_wp) account cannot connect to a Network resource instead of using a local path ie: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot my development site resides on a Network Share...

I built an ASP application and it runs fine on my local IIS. I am trying to move the application to my web service (ISP) out on the internet. I've read several of the help articles but they all seem to think I am deploying to localhosts. I created a new directory on my web page and copied most of the files from the wwwroot subdirectory where my project exists. When I try to open the page (by pointing to "WebForm1.aspx in the new...

I have a VB.Net 2005 application that I am publishing to a network file server. The app reads an xml file that has some database connection information in it. This xml file is located in the same folder as the executable. The problem is when I double click on the appname.application on the server the program can't find the xml file because the Application.StartupPath is: C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Local Settings\Apps\2.0\...

Hi, We have an inhouse developed VB.NET Windows application which runs successfully only when the user is given a local administrator rights. Without which, it fails to start. There isn't anything reported on the event viewer. Giving the user full access to C:\ drive also doesn't do the trick. Unfortunately, we do not have the code of this application and hence cannot view what the application is trying to access. Note that we have both...

I created a new Application Pool for my ASP.NET application since I want it to run under a specific user identity with privileges to access the application database. (I don't want to grant access to the entire Network Service account.) I know the application pool is fundamentally sound because it runs my application when its identity is set to the default Network Service account. When I change its identity to the desired local user...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
