I updated the patch that supports PEP 304, "Controlling Generation of
Bytecode Files" to apply cleanly against current CVS. I've tested it on Mac
OS X (straight Unix build only). I'd appreciate it if some Linux, Windows
and Mac framework folks could apply the patch, rebuild, then run the tests
(there is a "testbcb" target in the Makefile that should give Windows people
an idea what to do). The patch is attached to

I wondered if there was any way to launch a Windows

Hi,
Is there a way to ensure that only one instance of an application runs
on a physical machine. I would want to do this in a cross platform way.
One ide I have is to obtain a list of the running processes and checking
the list - but then (presumably), the checking code would always be on
the list - so this defeats the point somewhat.
Any ideas?

We have created a windows service which works fine, and commands are sent to
it via an ASP.NET web application using the ServiceController class and the
ExecuteCommand method.
The problem is that the users log into the web application using integrated
windows authentication, so not all of the users have permission to send
commands to the service.
Is it possible to change the permissions within the service code that allows
all users...

We have been noticing that questions on vs.2005/2.0 don't appear to get much
in answers so I'm reposting some questions posted by some of the programmers
here in our organization that never got answered...
In 1.1 we always did our own myDataAdapter.fills and we liked that control
for lots of good reasons. Now the new DataSource (or is it a
TableAdapter:Dataset) automatically fills the Gridview. How can we control
that fill?

I've found how to use javascript to embed a Windows Media Player in a web
page. How do I go about controlling the player in response to user input?
There should be calls to start, stop and also to play at a certain
position.
For instance, I'd like to have a video playing. Along with that, I'd
present a list of 10 chapters within the video. When a user clicks a link,
the player should play the appropriate chapter or section. Thanks.

I am having a problem where I have a COM application that can be run stand-alone and programatically via COM interop. If an instance of the COM application is being run when my .NET application that does the COM interop starts, it latches onto a currently running instance rather than making a new instance for itself.
So here are the facts of my situation.
I have a Delphi 7 app that implements a COM Server.

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
