I just got a new computer and am having a beast of a time getting
Visual Studio to install on it. The computer is an HP Pavilion a750e
with an AMD Athlon 64/3700 processor, a gig of RAM, a 250 gig hard
drive, and Windows XP Professional. I have MS Visual Studio
Professional 6.
The install process copies all the files to the hard drive -- the
progress bar completes. Then I get the message, "Setup is updating
your system" and then I...

I used to have Visual Basic .net std. 2003 installed on WinXP SP1A. But I
found it too hard to upgrade WinXP to SP2. Now, I do have WinXP SP2
installed, but I am having problems installing Visual Basic .net standard
2003. Not installing Visual Basic at the WinXP SP1A level - was the only way
I found that I could
install WinXPSP2.
My computer was purchased with WinXP SP1 Professional. I also have
Norton Internet Security and Norton...

I hope this is in the correct newsgroup.
I have purchased and installed Visual Studio .Net 2003 under XP
Professional. However, when I try to look at a VB.net sample web app, it
will not open. I seem to be missing IIS or ASP.Net, but most likely both.
Some research (has left me confused) but I think these are both available
with Windows Server 2003 standard edition, a CD of which came with Visual
Studio.
First, do I really need to...

I had Visual Studio .NET installed on my system for a
while and then decided I would install a second copy of
Windows 2000 on my second drive and use it strictly for
developing Visual Basic apps. I reformatted and
reinstalled Windows 2000 on my first and my second drives.
On the second drive I tried to install Visual Studio .NET.
Of course, the install program said I needed to update
some components so it ran the updates on the Component...

I have the Microsoft Visual Basic .NET Deluxe Learning Edition from
Microsoft and am trying to reinstall it after a hardware system crash
requiring complete reformat/reinstall of Windows XP Pro and SP2. The first
time I installed on this machine under my previous OS installation, it quite
happily installed on my development drive. Now, however, when I get to the
Options page, the installation location dropdown is grayed out and I cannot...

Hello,
I'm having some problems installing Visual Studio 2005.
I'll briefly explain what's the history of the problem here.
First I installed VS 2005 beta 2.
I uninstalled it later via the Windows Uninstall Tool you can download.
Then I installed Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition ENU. This was a trial
version for 180 days.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
