I have a html page that I don't want anyone to print. Is there a way using
JavaScript to send an alert to the user to warn them from trying
to print the html page? Is there an onPrint event handler? In my book
'JavaScript a Beginner's Guide' by John Pollock none is listed. Can a
function be written that will execute if someone tries to print the html?
Thanks in advance
P.S. I also have a printable version of the page in pdf which is for...

Hi,
I am experimenting with different viewstate management ideas for large
datagrids, and found a microsoft suggestion to turn it off, and only
store relevant information by manually accessing viewstate. as per some
helpful suggestins in MSDN "Common DataGrid Mistakes"
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnaspp/html/aspnet-commondatagridmistakes.asp
they suggest disabling datagrid viewstate and adding...

What is the rationalle for disabling JavaScript. AFAIK, the primary reason
is for "security purposes" - but what specific kind of threats does the
protect against? AND - is the
disabling of JavaScript something that is done very much? I know it's
impossible to answer that last question definitively - so I'm wondering if
it has presented any of you with any real problems in the day-to-day running
of your Web applications (i.e. support...

Hi
I've got a .NET web application and once a user presses a certain button the the page I'd like to disable other buttons straight away so that the user can't press anything else while calculations are performed. I realise that if I put code to disable other buttons at the start of my button press procedure then it doesn't actually happen until the page refreshes, which is after the calculations are performed. Is there anyway to get around...

Hi,
I suddenly started getting a lot of errors from html validation (some CSS)
so I followed the following instructions to disable it.
If you'd rather not have these types of HTML validation errors show up in
your error-list, you can disable this functionality by selecting the
Tools->Options menu item in VS or Visual Web Developer. Select the
TextEditor->Html->Validation tree option in the left-hand side of the

I have to issues:
1) Does anyone know of a programmatic way I can disable all textboxes,
combo, listboxes, and buttons on a form?
2) What is the best practice for disabling multiple controls on a form.
Basically, I need to disable almost everything on a form and re-enable when
a particular task is complete. It seems like I duplicate the code over and
over in the code... then later when I add a new control, I invariably miss...

Invoking a postback before a large ASP.NET page has fully rendered
will often cause the page to crash. This is unhelpful and confusing
to users.
I'm wondering if I can overcome this by disabling any controls that
invoke a postback until the page is fully rendered, ie setting the
controls disabled server-side, serving the page and then having a
JavaScript routine right at the bottom of the page re-enable them
client-side.

I've run into a bit of a problem concerning JavaScript and ASP.NET.
Upon page submission I disable all of my buttons and would also like to disable all of my inputs (Textboxes, DropDownLists, etc) as well. This will prevent multiple postbacks to the server while it's processing and keep the user from making changes during this time.
The problem is that when I use JavaScript to disable the input controls the values of these objects come...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
