I have a client for whom I have developed several ASP.NET applications and
web services.
They recently upgraded their web servers to very large (>2TB) storage
capacities.
*UPDATED INFO*
I tried installing the applications on an array of approximately 1TB in
size, and the setup fails with disk-size errors there as well
*UPDATED INFO*
Now, the setup.exe packages created by my ASP.NET deployment projects will
no longer install -- as they report that there is insufficient disk space
available for the installation.
The client is not enthused about this.
As a short-term solution, I have installed the code using good-old Xcopy and
it works that way, of course, but the client want their "Add/Remove
Programs" interface capability back.
What is the solution?

my bet is that the setup engine you are using is borking with an overflow.
to confirm this try installing it onto a drive that is substansually
smaller - if the setup engine has no issues then you may have nailed the
problem.
i may be wayy off track but i thaught i wold give it a go - good luck

Yes, I realize that the setup.exe is having a problem with the large
drives -- and yes it works fine with smaller drive partitions. It is only
after the large drive upgrades that the installation problems occur.
Unfortunately none of these facts make the client any happier, or the
process any less broken.

ASP.NET deployement project setup.exe files "see" large drive partitions as
negative size -- and therefore will not install on them.
This is bad.
Having to teach my clients how to install using xcopy is bad.
Not having an easily removable entry in 'Add/Remove' programs is bad.
Any clues on when this will be fixed?

Create a setup.exe deployment package and try to execute it on a server with
2TB of disk space. The installer will report that the drive is negative in
size, and will therefore refuse to install.
My client (who is trying to install the .NET webservices and ASP.NET apps I
created for them) with the nifty new large disk partion is not the
happiest...
When will this likely be fixed?

(Sorry for cross-posting).
I need to access large files > 2GByte (Linux, WinXP/NTFS)
using the standard C-library calls.
Till today I thought I know how to do it, namely for
Win32:
Use open(), read(), _itelli64(), _lseeki64() with type __int64
Linux/Cygwin:
#define _FILE_OFFSET_BITS 64
Use open(), read(), lseek() with type off_t

Hi
I have a Database Application that i am trying to install on the Clients machine, the application uses three custom Ms access Databases. Those database i added in the correct folder in the SETUP Project of my application
However, perhaps due to the size of the Databases (appx 500 mb), or some other reason when i try to build the SETUP project, it fails, right in the start giving an ERROR, not enough DISK SPACE to complete this operation.

I'm new to C# deployment project way of doing things and have run into a
problem with a deployment project that has me stumped. I've put together a
deployment of a project which works just fine for new installations but
fails if the project has already been deployed. What I'd like for it to do
is to ask if it should upgrade/repair/uninstall. Instead, it says that the
user must remove the project before the installation can execute. What...

I help manage a large web site, one that has over
600 html pages... It's a reference site for ham radio
folks and as an example, one page indexes over
1.8 gb of on-line PDF documents.
The site is structured as an upside-down tree, and
(if I remember correctly) never more than 4 levels.
The site basically grew (like the creeping black blob) ...
all the pages were created in Notepad over the last

Hi All,
I've been successfully deploying clickOnce successfully through the 2.0 and
3.X frameworks, but now have a problem with ClickOnce updates in 3.5 SP1.
The scenario is this: I want to deploy an *offline* application that can
only be installed from behind our organizational firewall (a Win2k3 domain),
but can be updated from anywhere (hotels, etc).
To do this, the publishing folder location is set to a UNC share path:

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
