Server name lookup failure on VS.NET 2003, Win Server 2003

I am encountering the following problem: when not connected to the Interne
I cannot add my own computer (i.e., localhost) as a server to VS.Net's server
explorer. Instead a dialog box pops up which reads 'The requested name is valid,
but no data of the requested type was found.' (this corresponds to the winsoc
error code WSANO_DATA). However, when connected to the Internet, I ca
add my own computer as a server to server explorer. My computer's OS is
Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Ed

I have tried installing a DNS server and a WINS server onto my computer, t
no avail. Both DNS and WINS encounter start-up problems. I'm not sur
that either DNS or WINS servers would help solve the above problem, anyway

Do you have any advice or ideas

Thank

I'm posting my problem experience and solution I found here for other ASP.NET developers. I have a web application that uses Forms Authentication with Active Directory to control access. In this web application, I have search page that utilizes the Windows Indexing Service (MSIDXS provider). For reasons I'm not aware of at this time, setting <identity impersonation="true" /> in the web.config causes an error whenever you try to search.

I have used Visual Studio for about 8 months. I have developed some ASP solutions. I had to get on with some other things and have not worked with ASP.NET for a couple months. In the meantime, I have upgraded to .NET Framework 200 V1.1. Over the week end I had to go back to work on a project that needed some changes. I get the following error when I try to open an existing project or create a new one. I have XP Professional An error...

Hi, Can anyone help. This is really doing my nut in. 3 years ASP exp. and now doing .DOT which is a step in the wrong direction. Basically I am left with the code of a guy who has left. When I click a button on a pop-up window the javascript for that button click does a 'button.form.submit'. On the Server side there is a Button click event for this button, but for some reason it no longer fires. It worked fine before and everything...

I have a test network consisting of four servers running windows 2003 server R2 SP2. I have set up a domain which functioned correctly for about a day and a half until the other servers decided they can no longer connect to the domain controller. Ping resolves the domain controllers name to the correct ip nslookup finds the ip but can not resolve the name. When I attempt to log on to a machine on the domain it takes around twenty minutes...

Proposal: When an attribute lookup fails for an object, check the top-level (and local scope?) for a corresponding function or attribute and apply it as the called attribute if found, drop through to the exception otherwise. This is just syntactic sugar. Example:

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
