More on Window.Open/Now have Post Back problems

I've got my forms more or less working - the login form
now has a regular button instead of an asp:button, so I
can attach the Window.Open call for the next page in the
client code. I moved the validation for the login into
Page_Load in an if (IsPostBack) statement. The problem now
is timing. The login form isn't posting back - the new
form opens immediately on the button click, so the login
form hasn't processed the user-id yet because it's not
posting back. I thought that a button click generated a
post back by default? Can I suppress the Window.Open on
the button click until after post back? Or should I put
the user validation code somewhere else? I tried changing
the "button" to "submit" and that does cause a post back
but the timing is still too late for the next page. And
I'm not even sure the new window will know about the first
window's Session variables. Will it?

I appreciate any help. Our webmaster left the company and
I'm on my own right now.

I want to submit an HTML form and have the reply appear in a small window that overlays the form window. After the reply is read, the user should be able to delete the small window, and then directly view the whole form and resubmit it if desired. Stated a different way, I'd like the equivalent of a simple dialog box that the CGI can write into. So far, about all I've accomplished is to resize the browser window, then the user has to...

How can I POST a form into a new window where I control the size and other attributes of the new window? Also. Are there any implications, perhaps due to browser security (Interne Explorer?) that could cause problems if I try to post a form at www.mydomain.com to www.anotherdomain.com?

This is for a search page that takes parameters on one page, processes the query, and displays them on another page. I've got a javascript popup window on a button click event. When the user clicks the button, the popup window opens, and the parent page goes on with the query. No problem there. The problems comes in when one of my validator's throws an error, then naturally the page does not post back waiting for the page to valid. ...

Through some investigation it appears that selecting "Every visit to the page" for the IE caching setting "Check for new version of stored pages" causes the window.opener property of child windows to be set to null after the main page has excuted a postback. Can anyone explain this or at show that I'm wrong ? Is this a bug in IE ?

This was posted before but the message got messed up (all NLs were stripped out for some reason). Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
