Local Intranet code won't connect back to it's site of origin

Hello all,

I am getting into trouble in what I think is a rather common scenario: In a
client-server application, the client is deployed on a network share on the
same computer on which the server software is running. When I start the
client application on a client computer from the network share it is code
that comes from the local intranet. According to all the documentation I
have read, such code has permission to "connect back to it's site of
origin".

But when my client tries to open a socket connection to the server computer
it gets a security exception due to a missing socket permission. Also, I
can't get a web permission.
So my code should have Intranet_same_s ite privileges, but I can't connect
back by sockets or http requests. So how do I do it? Do I need to use a
different API?

Thanks for all tips

I have a server running NT 4 Server that is on my local domain that hosts an ASP application. I have a problem: when I try to test the ASP application from a computer on the same domain running IE6 on Windows 2000, the browser will not store the session key. Computers running other versions of Internet Explorer store the session key. When I host the application on a Windows 2000 server also on the local domain, the same test computer...

I'm not sure if this is possible. I would like to have a PHP app on the Internet connect and write to a local database (Intranet). For example, users would go to a web site http://www.internet.com to run the app. The app requires an internet connection and is outside of the user's network. The app would have the option to either store data locally or on the Internet. I would like to give users the option to store data locally because...

I have an issue where I have a remote IP Address, and I need to discover the local network interface IP Address which is viewable to the remote IP Address (for UPnP document purposes). For example, if I have the remote IP Address 10.0.0.4, and I know all of the local IP Addresses: 127.0.0.1 10.0.0.5 10.1.0.20 192.168.0.5 157.54.185.126

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
