selecting the opsite

how to select the oposite in mysql :

example :

select from 'my_table' where `username`='$username'

how can i select other users? not '$username'


like $username != $username

how im doing that in mysql?

Using != should work fine.
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. SELECT 1 = 1; /* Result: 1 */
  2. SELECT 1 = 2; /* Result: 0 */
  3.  
  4. SELECT 1 != 1; /* Resutl: 0 */
  5. SELECT 1 != 2; /* Resutl: 1 */
  6.  
<> should also work

what i need is to select the other users ,not the current user.

is this ok:

select * from my_table where username <> $username ...?
