MyISAM table and sort order on the disk

Hi all,

I ran the myisamchk tool with the options --sort-index
--sort-records=1 against an MYI file. Is there something I can use to
confirm what this command did? I would like to see what the sort order
on the disk for each table in my database.

I am using MySQL 4.0.20a-nt running on a Windows 2000 box.

Thanks in advance

Reuben

Hi, I'm somewhat new to MySql. I've been using it for a while, but pretty much out of the box setup, and am starting to suffer heavily with my larger tables. I have a table with 5,000,000+ rows that I have to search and do joins on. Although I have an index set up for it, the joined select will still take some 400+ seconds to return, which is obviously unacceptable. This is due to enormous HD access. Perhaps someone can help me...

I have a series of 33 tables, identical in structure : (field names shortened) CREATE TABLE `dbtable1` ( `FS` varchar(254) NOT NULL default '', `NAM` varchar(254) NOT NULL default '', `H` int(11) NOT NULL default '0', `SIZ` int(11) default NULL,

I'm wondering if there is a way to retrieve Foreign Key declaration information on both MyISAM and InnoDB tables. Of course, I understand that MyISAM doesn't support Foreign Keys, however, it does still parse FK declarations within a CREATE TABLE statement, and moreover, it even creates an index on the column that is the Foreign Key. So my question is for this sample CREATE TABLE declaration:

I'm running MySQL 4.1 under Linux. I need to have a MyISAM table with more than 4G rows of data. I've read the manual regarding the MAX_ROWS option on tables. This table has a fixed row length, with 17 bytes per row. MySQL simply won't set the ROW_LENGTH greater than 4G. When I use an ALTER TABLE to set it higher, it acts as though it worked fine, but a SHOW TABLE STATUS indicates that it is still limited to 4294967295.

How do I sort a table, from a form. I can't use SQL! WE have an Access application that is created by an outside vendor. The one form states: "Please make sure all records in table are sorted by date..." The application is not locked or hidden in any way, but is fairly involved. I would like to be able to simply add a button to this form to sort the table.

Hi there I have a database with about 20 or so tables, maybe a few thousand rows in each. I am starting to do more complex things with my insertions etc, and I want to start to use transactions, so I imagine I should change some table types in the database from MyISAM to InnoDB. I know that InnoDB tables are a completely different beast than MyISAM in terms of data storage etc... ie: instead of using folders on the server, everything...

Hi, is it possible that due to OS crash or mysql itself crash or some e.g. SCSI failure to lose all the data stored in the table (let's say million of 1KB rows). In other words what is the worst case scenario for MyISAM backend? Also is it possible to not to lose data but get them corrupted?

hi, I found a jquery html table sorting code i have implemented. I am trying to figure out how to edit how many colums there are, but every time i remove code that I think controls how many colums there are, it crashes. There are currently 6 columns, and I only want 4. How do I remove the last two (discount and date)? Here is a link: http://www.jaredmoore.com/tablesorter/docs/salestable.html Here is some jquery js that I think...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
